James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Actually yeah, Last Samurai would fit perfect if we were going for that. I mean, as much as I enjoyed it, both of Avatar and Last Samurai are about white guilt and unintentionally about white people (or constitute it to earth people in case of Avatar) supremacy. After everything that has happened in last few centuries with Indians and what not Hollywood is trying to say sorry in some probably subconscious way, by letting the natives win, showing how noble and brave they were, or w/e, but in a funny way still making them look primitive and stupid, as in every story day has to be saved by a white occupant who has a change of heart. And especially so in Avatar with Jake being the only one figuring out how to saddle the Turruk (sp?) dragon, despite being on pandora for only few months.

Heck, every Zwick movie is just about same if you generalize plot that far, and i dont see anyone complaining

In todays Avatar news - Avatar earns China?s biggest-ever opening box office of... brace yourselves... drums... USD$4.8m. I mean, whoa, i know China isnt quite US when it comes to box office, but whoa. For a 1,5 billion nation id expected a tad bit more.

I'm a bit surprised by that as well. I would expect the figures to have been much more.

It's a lot considering the average earnings in China (cheap labour, no?). If they earn 100 times less than US citizens (in US dollars) you can see how big it is for them.

You should know that dominance is not about being clever or strong. A thug can easily kill a genius with the knife (as it was with Jake's brother in the film). Group of thugs can easily kill a strong man. So "being the one alive" != "being strong/clever/smart/good". As for Turruk, they just didn't need it before. It's the ultimate weapon that was required only 5 times throughout their history. Metaphorically speaking, if you just live in a sleepy american neighbourhood, why in hell would you sneak to the air base and steal F-35 jet fighter? Jake was just desperate and lucky whily the tribe was still confused and depressed.

I agree. Most Chinese do not care for theaters. They have their mini-series on TV/video to watch. They are working hard and do not have as much free time as we do. It's unfortunate that there are parities in the world.

James Cameron?s "Avatar" has become a colossus, raking in $1 billion within its first five minutes of release. Everyone is going to see it: Men, women, kids, grandparents, neighbors, cousins, llamas. There is, seemingly, no demographic averse to the space epic?s charms.

Except one.

Hardcore Conservatives, those reliable tsk-tskers of all things Hollywood, have taken up arms against the movie's perceived liberal messages

    • Can you read? I've said I'm willing to pay more for a notchless (no notch) 3:2 screen.
    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • make your own notch - it's not that hard
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
