James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

Finally watched the movie and I enjoyed it. I thought there were not going to be a lot of people watching it but it was full.

The plot is not the best one, same with the acting but visually is stunning. Not sure it really deserve that Golden Globe. Still enjoyed it and going to get it on Blu-Ray. :)

So I went and saw it for a second time, this time 3d... I didn't feel any "innovative" 3d experience, the commercials for "3d cinema, put your glasses on now" felt much more "wow"... Visuals were nice though 3d or not CGI was good :) Though I wouldn't recommend anyone to go watch it strictly based on visual as acting and plot are meh...

I saw it twice and after seeing the videos above i'm even more stoked. I just loved how Zoey did a great job and the whole capture the emotion of their faces and put that on. You can see their eyes twinkle and all that, you can almost feel the love between the CGI characters. The part when she found out Jake already knew about the coming doom was just classic. Zoey definitely rocked that part too and it translated perfectly to the CGI character.

If I've looked right, it's taken $200m in the last 3 days. I reckon there's a slight delay between the public lists like the Wikipedia one and http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ , so I say it's already done it. At this pace, it'll do $2bn no problem.

Look, Mrs. Doubtfire is at slot 99 on that list! :)

But I agree, Avatar will break $2 billion, because it's not slowing down that much and still has a lot of time left in the box office.

yea... when she delivers the line "you will never be one of the people" you can really see how impressive the cgi+emotions blend together. I was really impressed with her role in the film.

Quoting a few post from members I thought was funny. Has Jedi serve some of you your delicious plate of crows yet?

PS I'm only doing this for fun. Don't kill me.

Victor Rambo

This movie will surpass Titanic in worldwide box-office.

Minifig

No.. it won't.

If you ask me, Cameron's suffering from Lucasitus.

He's doing way too much CGI to cover up for the lack of story.

Look closely and you'll see Jar Jar Binks in a couple of frames.

Xero

I think the movie is going to blow harder than Paris Hilton..

..sorry jedi

Rappy

I really do hope this movie isn't all about hype and then fails at the cinema!

Growled

I may be wrong, and often am, but I think this might either be one of the biggest game changing films in history, or one of it's biggest duds. I don't think there will be any middle ground.

.KICK

Why do I have the feeling that this movie will not meet expectations both critics and sales wise!

DeathSniper

Not really feeling this movie at all, full of 3D Gimmicks. I'm still holding out for a real 3D film that uses 3D to push the story, not exploit it.

kawasabi

Blow my mind the old fashioned way. If you need to do it in 3D you failed imo.

Orange

Do you guys think this or 2012 will get biggest money from box office?

MindTrickz

So far this movie has cost $500 million Dollars to make. I'm not too sure it can make all that money back and also having watched the trailers, i just don't see 500 million dollars worth of production.

Cameron's Titanic cost $250 million dollars and made 1.8 billion so i i guess we'll have to wait and see.

excalpius

Jim is reinventing cinema. He doesn't care about the money.

+warwagon

I showed my mom and my dad that new trailer. They both said it looks stupid, it just looks like a video game.

Minifig

So.. guys.

Just out of curiosity..

What happens if this is a three hour long bomb?

Rappy

It will do well but making its money back might not happen, but it won't bomb bomb

Ayepecks

I'm really letdown with the CGI... I mean, it's not bad by any means, but I was expecting it to be as revolutionary as the supposed 3D elements are going to be.

Still really looking forward to this simply because of Cameron. I think it will be a slight flop in that it won't get nearly as much money as they think it will, however. Most of my friends aren't even remotely interested in it.

Avatar = FAIL

+Anarkii

I have no interest in this movie what so ever. Ever since True Lies, Cameron hasn't made a movie worth watching at all.

Dr. Gonzo

Looks like another mediocre film from a director who didn't know when to quit while he was ahead. I predict you'll see 'Avatar' action figures overflowing in the clearance bins of stores by february.

ShamRocker1

I will not be watching this. Same Hollywood crap thrown on unsuspecting movie goers.

I'll wait for the DVD version.

neudera

This movie fails.

+Phantom Helix™

This movie cost $240 million to make lol

I least I got the game changing part right. :D

It's now surpassed Dark Knight as the #2 movie of all time here in the US and is definitely headed toward Titanic. It was #1 for the 6th straight week and made $36 million last week.It also needs only 2 million to surpass Titanic worldwide.

Watched it this weekend in 3D.

Unfortunately(or fortunately hurr hurr) I did not pay much attention to the story, since I was more interested in the visuals and the 3d, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I was expecting the 3D to be worse, but it overshot my expectations (who wasn't very high to begin with).

But yeah, since I'm going to go watch it another time this week (in 3d aswell) ill be paying more attention to the movie. Unless I get too distracted by my female colleague that im bringing with me. :D

    • All versions is correct. The bug appears on any version of Windows with KB5094126 installed. It's a little insane to expect the author to explain that systems that can't possibly have that patch installed, will not experience the bug. If you have any gripe about the title, it would be that it doesn't mention the update at all, but I wouldn't agree with that either. A title is not expected to be a full summery of the article.
    • (Can't see if he's still wearing the clompy clown shoes though)
    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
