jesus you mean people still use xp?

No, I use 7, but I installed Capric0rn's themes, both Emico and Novus into an XP virtual machine because they're very well done themes. If I'm doing work in XP, I can at least do so while looking at clean and simple themes, instead of looking at that clunky Fisher-Price interface called Luna.

Not everyone buys a new computer very often. However in my AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (Single Core) with 2GB of RAM I'm using 7 x64 with no problem whatsoever (yeahh I could/should use 32-bit because I have only 2GB but at least I "unlock" every bit of my ancient CPU).

However I still manage a few XP machines and use a VM here and then and Novus is just beautiful. And of course I may eventually actually use XP again on this PC.

hmm... How come you posted it as your desktop screenshot... and yet it isn't ready to use? Maybe it was a "teaser-shot". But then again you did say it was a mod for personal use. Surely if you were using it yourself it's ready for general use? I mean a larger taskbar isn't THAT much work. Is it?

eh, I don't mean to sound moany or ungrateful. I know a hell of alot of work goes into the themes, especially themes such as yours, with consistently high-quality. And of course it's simply a hobby and not a priority. But maybe teasing themes you aren't prepared to release isn't such a good idea. It often seems you tease more than you release.

Again I don't want to sound hostile, In the end, they're your themes and it's your time, you can do as you want!

Hell I can't even use your themes as I am only on Vista now... :alien:

Yes, the thicker taskbar was a personal mod because I thought no one would want to use it. People always seem to ask for compact styles when there's only a thicker style available. Also, the personal mod lacked quality.

Making the taskbar thicker doesn't mean that I only have to make the titlebar thicker. I also have to re-create a thicker captionbar, caption buttons, userbar (top bar in the startpanel) and thicker scrollbars. Since I'm busy with school and other projects, I have to chose which takes higher priority. Since the Novus has been released as I wanted to release it, additional styles will be a "maybe". So yeah, it kinda is THAT much work.

Which other things did I tease with but didn't release? And don't mention Novus black, since I already stated why I'm not going to release that.

Do you guys rather see it with those extra lines or without?

It's not going to have an extra line. It doesn't look as nice with the current bigger buttons.

Hm, I'm considering to fix the personal mod version and releasing that instead of making it a substyle for Novus. It has a clean captionbar (means no blocks) and the thicker taskbar. With that I'm going to ask PeterPL if he'd like to make the black theme more consistent with the Novus Blue and let him release that version.

Does anyone agree with this idea?

I'm also bringing back the startbutton icon from one of the earlier BlueSE mockups. I'm talking about the version with only the icon :) The startbutton from Novus just doesn't work with the thicker taskbar.

Great news. One more to agree. :)

:( I like the startbutton from your mockups. Maybe two versions (like in WE - with and without text?). Pleeeease?

I already said that I wont be using the colored flag for any startbutton. In fact, I even deleted all those layers. The screenshot which I was talking about can probably be found in the Watercolor Emico thread. It's the current Windows flag without the text and button. Since it's a mod, there wont be additional substyles. The only substyles which I might make are the font choices.

The reason why the startbutton from Novus doesn't is because the button doesn't stretch to the top from the taskbar. This means that the Windows flag is inside the button, which looks really weird.

    • Here is how to watch Apple's WWDC 2026 conference where iOS 27 is expected by Taras Buria It is Monday, June 8, 2026, which means today is the day Apple kicks off its annual Worldwide Developer Conference, WWDC 2026. As usual, today's keynote will be full of consumer and developer-focused announcements, including new versions of Apple's operating systems, developer tools, and more. Apple streams its developer conferences, allowing everyone to tune in and watch the announcements live. Today is no exception, so here is how you can watch it. Apple WWDC 2026 will be available to watch on Apple's official website here. Also, you can stream it on YouTube and the Apple TV app on your Apple device. The stream kicks off at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM GMT+1. Apple's annual developer conference usually focuses on new software experiences, so do not expect major hardware announcements. What is expected is the "27" series of Apple's operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and macOS. Apple is unlikely to introduce major UI changes, but you can expect subtle tweaks to the Liquid Glass design language, particularly on Mac. One of the biggest changes Apple plans to announce today is a reworked, AI-powered Siri. The assistant will be available as a standalone app with a chatbot-like experience and Google's AI models under the hood. If you want to learn more about what is expected today at WWDC 2026, check out our dedicated article here. However, if you prefer a spoiler-free stream, tune in at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT on Apple's official website, its YouTube channel, or the Apple TV app.
    • For we consumer readers, it would be helpful if you clearly stated in the headline if the article is about consumer or enterprise. Then readers will know if the article applies to them or not. 2 cents.
    • At the moment I have my main PC and a test PC on my work desk. The test PC is also not inverted so I am not looking at the glass panel side, which is irritating.
    • I'm glad you posted this clarification of the cause of so-called Windows 11 update problems that too often appear in the article headlines.. In the future, it would be better to readers if you took your time, did the analysis before posting an article about Windows problems, which end up being a waste of time. Just saying.
    • Nah. They'll milk the current generation in terms of design - controllers, consoles, but no meaningful hardware improvements. This is one reason why people aren't buying Xbox hardware - it's stagnant.
