I guess the word "mod" now really is inappropriate since you approved the release of a black version and reworked the graphics. The mockups you did for a black version a while back looked very promising and it's a shame that you don't have the time or motivation to finish it the way you originally intended.

Still that doesn't change the fact that I'm really excited about this version ;)

Well, today I left Windows XP behind and upgraded to Windows 7. This means that I won't be releasing the mod anymore. I could release the mod in the current state, but that's just Novus with a different taskbar and captionbars.

Novus: Black is coming along nicely. There are still a few things to be fixed but I think that it's release is close :)

You nearly gave me a heart attack there because I thought by mod you meant Novus Black ;)

Concerning Windows 7: I gave it a shot for a week in August but thought that it only was a glorified Vista that can't do anything XP couldn't do for me. I barely play games on the PC anymore and for those few I do play, DirectX 9 is perfectly fine. And at least in my opinion software for 7 also isn't quite where it should be yet. I'll wait at least until my licence for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 runs out (just bought one in May and unfortunately 2009 doesn't run on 7) and Firefox 3.7 with its native Aero support comes out.

I hope that by the time I finally upgrade, you will have made equally awesome visual styles for Windows 7 :p

Yep, me also.

Dammit. Didn't know that. Unfortunately your tip comes a little late since I've already uninstalled Windows 7 and with the start of the new semester I'm not exactly in the mood to install it again. Maybe I'll just try 2010 with my 2009 license on XP just to see for myself that it works.

Great work. By far the best black style I've ever used. I even downloaded it during my first class of this semester. Just couldn't resist ;)

This will definitely prolong the time I'll use XP ;)

To the ones wanted to have the mod; there are to many versions in the folder from said visual style to see which is the most complete mod. Could anyone test for me which one's the correct one?

Nope, I've been ill since last Wednesday so I didn't feel like working on a mod which I can't even use myself. There are where a few images which needed replacements, but I'm thinking of just letting it be as it is. Everyone knows it's an unfinished mod anyways.

Here's the mod: Novus-ish

The file still called Novus and it'll also show up as Novus in the visual styles list. I don't have any application installed to edit all the names inside the *.msstyle. If you want, you can rename it into anything with Resedit or a similar application. There are bugs in the skin code-wise and image-wise, feel free to fix those but don't post every little fix in this thread :)

      I am actually looking forward to this..... I think Dark Ages was way more fun than the tedious expansions for Doom 2 (nu-doom).

      Mixed thoughts. I do think MS realized it need's to re-focus on it's core while trying to get people to ultimate pay for AI. My windows machines is my gaming tower. That being said a windows machine I used as a server was just recently converted to no GUI Linux server (and it runs so much better for it's purpse), and general purpose laptop (non-gaming) that could run Windows 11 is using Linux. My work device is a MacBook Pro, and I have a raspberry PI acting as my DNS server, using linux. I honestly have more non-windows devices then devices. I don't consider myself typical user however.
