I'm not sure if this has been changed in the Trillian Pro skin yet, but I replaced the default icon for metacontacts (quite surprised it was still in there) with this:

Thought you might be interested.. Was a quick job but I totally disliked the default metacontacts icon in a classix skin :)

What do I replace it with it the CTACT file, all I see is a bunch of little icons.

here https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...ST&f=34&t=75267 you will have to put them in your shell32.dll tho.

maybe that link can be put in a readme?

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out here...

I have downloaded the toolbar zip files containing the bmps.

How do I implemement them? The toolbar would look really nice with this theme.

Gigatexel has the same toolbar in his my computer window screenshot.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Pfft.

No spamming. Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic. Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.

Hi all,

Just wanna let everyone know that I whipped up a quick mod of the wonderful altdesk theme based on the Winamp2 metrix skin to fit in with Classix 10K 2.

If anyone is interested in it, please lemme know, and I'll start the whole 'gimme permission' bal rollin'.

The screen shot attached (sorry, just couldnt be arsed to resize and crop it) shows what the altdesk skin looks like, it's the five panel app sitting under my shaded winamp in the top right corner. As you can plainly see, it's a blatant rip off of the metrix altdesk skin, if you've ever used it.

Anyhoo, lemme know if you want it or not.

Edit:

Oops, the preview post option seems to forget to attach my image... ah well, here it is again.

Edit redux:

Whoops, another thing, for those of you that might not be aware, AltDesk is the SUPER SNAZZY destkop switching app that Microsoft never seemed to get right.

Coming off of a Linux environment, I used to use Enlightenment for my desktop, anyway, AltDesk is the only app that I know of that can accurately emulate enlightenments virtual desktop implementation.

Check it out at AltDesk

    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
    • I really hope the author's health is ok. Squirreling away a official backup of this software. Looks like the internet archive already cached a copy as well - https://web.archive.org/web/20...ldbit-soft.fi/software.html
    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
