Windows 98SE: Benign error on booting

Hi all,

My Windows 98SE install was running very slow so I used CCleaner to fix up the registry and it now runs faster, but when I boot I see this:

It doesn't do anything and if I hit enter it boots and works normally, but it's one extra thing I'd like to fix if possible. Since the OS hasn't booted yet, I have no idea what this could be.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

yeah the ccleaner often creates more problem than solving any!

I know that CCleaner screwed something up, but this error is benign and the machine does run a lot faster now, I was just hoping to clean this error up...

To me, it's either a Virus Scanner problem, or some Interpreter error, shown here - http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microso...Q_20908814.html

I haven't used Windows98 in a while and I forgot about autoexec.bat, which clearly would explain this. That first link had my solution and I commented out that boot virus scan.

Yeeeeeah...no it doesn't. More than likely, CCleaner wasn't designed for an old OS like Win98SE.

Don't know how you manage to screw your stuff up, but it's NOT because of ccleaner.
