Pixelated Video Playback

Recommended Posts

Ok so heres the deal... When i play video files, it doesnt matter what format they are, avi, mkv so on, with VLC under Win7 (16385) the picture is pixelated (blocky/squarish), WMP plays those good, but i prefer VLC...

I use KL mega pack 5, latest video driver and latest stable VLC...

If anyone knows what causes this and how to fix, please reply... thanx... :)

Hi dude,

Yes that is a known issues with VLC and Windows 7; If you do not want to install any other media player at this point and want to continue using VLC , go to preferences and change the Video Output Method to OpenGL; This will fix your pixelated video issue. BS.Player works great though.

Your settings should look like this:

In DirectX mode, when i start a video, aero closes and i get the vista basic theme. But when playing 720p video, i need to put it on directX mode, in openGL and GDI, it's low framerate

Have you tried BS.Player? You don't need to tweak anything and it works fine :) Thanks Microsoft for Windows Media Foundation heh :\
