What was your LONGEST SESSION on Computer ?

Recommended Posts

Right now, this machine I'm typing has a up time of 27 days Windows 7 RC ( and It's not my home server, that has also an up time of 39 days running 2008 R2, but it's just a file server with some P2P from time to time )..

The reason this PC has 27 days up time is because I just came back from my 4 weeks in the beach and left it doing some encoding of h264 videos that took 23 days

Oh man my electricity bill will be nuts :(

Not long, as I usually buy DVD's from a shop

At least his "ADSL" is 256KBPs.That's pretty much faster than the whole of NZ.

My longest up-time is 14days, 8 hoursish - with Windows 7. I only restarted because there were updates.

I don't actually see any point in turning it off anymore...

the single longest session i've ever had in front of a computer was in 2000, and i spent a solid 4 and a half days (108 hours, thats right) on irc continously to push my limits of how long i could stay awake for.

Obviously i went to the toilet and got drinks/food etc but yeah apart from those 5/10 minute "rests", 108 hours is indeed my longest session.

Longest time i've left a computer on for? 6 weeks and a handful of hours (Windows Server 2003 on a spare machine)

If we're talking about servers, flip...6 months..?

I think the longest I've let the computer running was roughly 20 some days. I wanted to see how long I could push this computer to run.

and at twenty days it started walking?

surely a modern computer can run for months and months.

I played around 18 hours when I tried the World of Warcraft trial for the first time.

I just kept playing. I wanted to know more about the defias and I wanted to level up my character . It was kind of movie where I wanted to see the end. Later i found out lots more about the game and how big it was...

Uh, well over a hundred days, easily. Probably more like 200+.

... But that was also my server. :-P

My desktop has probably gone around 50 - 75ish, I'd say at most. I was running Linux primarily for a long time, wasn't doing a lot of heavy stuff on it (aside running some games in Wine - which caused plenty of crashes, but nothing that needed a restart), and never shut the machine down.

I had a random UPS too, which helped the very brief power outages/flickers.

Oh, right. And the most time I've spent on a computer? I have no idea... but, I'm sure it was well over 16 hours. I blame MMOs, personally, but I haven't done that for a long time.

you reminded me with the dark days before I got DSL and I was downloading stuff too and browsing with no limits on time  !

How much your phone bill came in the end  ? at least how many digits number it was ?

lol :D I had a 56kbps unlimited plan which included internet usage + tel line usage. So it was just like the DSL rentals we usually have but with highly low speed.

I just wonder now that I was doing such things with that poor line.

72 hours with pitstops. Had sold a large client a custom fin/admin multiuser system. On paper. Whilst building it, i discovered that (when to app was 3/4) an essential piece of code failed in 80286 EMM mode when on a Novell network..

I went nuts. Finally managed to rewrite it in assembly.?

Longest time at my computer and longest time I had my computer on may be two different things ...

I can only say the longest I ever sat at my computer ...

I was doing a design job for three clients and juggling them all ... they all lived different timezones so I stayed on my PC for 52 ... yes ... FIFTY TWO SOLID hours ... ONE toilet break ... and one 5 min pot noodle break.

I have never been so freaking ill in my life as I was after that. I've done 46 hours before too. It's a staple of my life to do stupid hours, but that one took the biscuit! Seriously deprived of sleep, I was seeing things by the end of that one ... worst thing was, I went to bed, and couldn't sleep ... I was buzzing!

:D

I used to spend the longest hours on the computer when I first got broadband ADSL....moving away from the painfull dialup lol that was like throwing gasoline on a fire...

I'd go 12 hours and sometimes 24 hours...or so....it would be like 11 am and then I hit the sack and wake up again at 6pm start all over again...downloading any and everything I found....and experimenting with my computers I would build or buy. etc..

Other times were playing Games...., Warcraft II tides of darkness, and later America's Army was my first long gaming sessions...24 hours before going to sleep playing....I did again recently with battlefield 2 and COD4.... lol time flies when your having fun...suddenly the sun is shining through the windows.
