[Rumour] PS3 Cross game chat and why it's currently MIA - EA butthurt?

Yeah I seen that, you're getting accused of being a channer lol. I wouldn't take that!

EDIT: Quick! Replace it with a goatse!

LOL.

Or just a large image of "BOW DOWN TO NEOWIN BITCHES!"

edit: It's on 4Chan now  - http://zip.4chan.org/v/res/36608215.html#36611914

You know, I think I've figured it out. He doesn't work for Sony, he DID work for EA, though!

Think about it, EA is big enough that they probably got some technical samples of the PS3 slim months ago anyway. Then he gets sacked for whatever reason, or rather he thinks he's going to get sacked so he "leaks" some damn good info on the PS3 slim. Then a few months later, after he gets sacked, he leaks a plausible rumour that gets a lot of people ****ed off at EA!

Maybe he was even a Maxis employee? I dunno, but to me this actually seems pretty logical.

Someone on there took it to another level with the pictures. Bunch of pictures of people torn apart, severed testicles, penis cut down the middle, babies with their heads blown off, someone that looked like they were skinned etc... The topic was called "Actual Question" and started off with kitten pictures (psycho). Anyways the jokes have worn off now, do they even have moderators? This stuff has been up for hours now.

OMG! It is getting REALLY disgusting on the EA forums right now! :x

Indeed it is, nice sig though :D

Imagine if Kushan's theory was right and he's a disgruntled ex-worker, he built up the trust of the community by leaking info about the slim so he could set this up for EA  That would be the tech story of the year!

All this carnage and I feel like the catalyst (cracking the guy's message) :p

THE POWER, OH GOD THE POWER! No... I mustn't use my powers for evil... CARNAGE DEATH DESTRUCTION!

You've definitely added fuel to the fire. :p

Sixth Axis have reported the story, though they seem to neglect the credibility Super_Secret has given his previous predictions. I doubt the reaction would have been this strong had the guy not had the track history he does.

Given the fact it has taken Sony so long to bring out features that have been available one the 360 from day 1 I see two possible reasons.

1. Sony staff/programmers are struggling themselves to program for the PS3.

2. A large publisher like EA, who is the only publisher who actually sells more PS3 games than Xbox 360 games, got them by their balls.

Whatever one it is, I think Sony has totally crapped their own pants by taking their time with this, making older games possibly incompatible with features introduced later down the road.

I just got myself an Xbox 360 the other day and I'm loving it. When next version of consoles come out, I will seriously look at what Sony has to offer better before I buy from them again.

:p

its crazy, sony had a whole year to fiddle with their console and basically improve upon the 360

360 is definately the more social console, and with online gaming being so big these days, its become microsofts trump card

facebook and twitter applications coming later this year too

I don't see Twitter and Facebook too special for the 360, if I want to use those I will use my pc. Does the 360 allow keyboard/mouse on dashboard, I can't remember, if not then even more reason that they have little use.

Admitedly the 360 online gaming side is better, but being honest, the PS3 performs well enough to not hamper my enjoyment so I see no point in paying for things when it works for free, all be it a basic version.

Point 1 is irrelevant here, quite frankly if this is true who gives a **** about whining at Sony for taking a year or so to get us cross game voice chat and in-game music support, they've "done it", we were about to get both. It only benefits us to get the features at some point, rather than never. Did you see the figures the guy is quoting, approx 95% of titles currently released worked with both. People are starting to buy the Slim now at it's more affordable price no one is telling me it's "too late" to add cross game voice chat/universal music support.

There is absolutely no reason for EA to bully them around over such beneficial features to the community. Yeah they struggled with the OS day 1, but if it's about to become "10x" better but EA are in the way that is a crock of ****, and EA should be hung for such nonsense. Chances are your old games have blown their load in terms of sales, why on earth any publisher would cry their eyes out about an older title is a joke.

That is the pro-consumer way to look at things, and as a PS3 owner if I'm prevented such support I'm not happy, simple as.

Yup, or you can use the chatpad.

facebook could be done nicely if they add things such as avatar support, being able to play some of the facebook games like bejewelled etc... not on facebook myself but i know a lot of people who would like this on their 360's

typing would be a pain tho

if sony continue updating their sysem i think it would be great... and hopefully still free

Is it just me or couldnt sony have turned it on by default for both features and then had a list of games that it breaks that get the non XMB interface? ala IE8 compatibility lists for example

That way the majority get what will work with their games. They dont even need to publish the list, just do update checks for it.

    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
    • Outlook classic is inherently better than new outlook, for a number of reasons. That said, if the only reason people need office is to read email, they should just use thunderbird.
    • Windows 11 is a big thumbs down from me. I used for a period of a few days while it was in insider and windows 10 was the main OS, and realised it wasn't for me. I am still waiting for Windows to be tolerable again, a shame as at one point I was very pro Microsoft.
    • Classic outlook, not only does it have a much fuller feature set, it doesn't include Microsoft attempting to sync my emails from my servers to theirs. If classic outlook is ever removed from office, and the version I paid for in 2021 stops working for some reason, I'll use Thunderbird.
    • Kdenlive 26.04.2 by Razvan Serea Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on GNU/Linux, Windows and BSD. Through the MLT framework, Kdenlive integrates many plugin effects for video and sound processing or creation. Furthermore Kdenlive brings a powerful titling tool, a DVD authoring (menus) solution, and can then be used as a complete studio for video creation. Kdenlive supports all of the formats supported by FFmpeg or libav (such as QuickTime, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and Flash Video, among others), and also supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for both PAL, NTSC and various HD standards, including HDV and AVCHD. Video can also be exported to DV devices, or written to a DVD with chapters and a simple menu. Video editing features: Multi-track editing with a timeline and supports an unlimited number of video and audio tracks. A built-in title editor and tools to create, move, crop and delete video clips, audio clips, text clips and image clips. Ability to add custom effects and transitions. A wide range of effects and transitions. Audio signal processing capabilities include normalization, phase and pitch shifting, limiting, volume adjustment, reverb and equalization filters as well as others. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive.
