My computer will not read my PS3 HDD! HALP.

Recommended Posts

Sorry i had to post it here, i couldn't find an applicable section (i'm still a newbie here)

Anyways, My Ps3 had gotten the Retched "YLOD", after that, i tired to take out the Hard drive because i want to back up my game data before i get it fixed (if i do)... i have it connected to my computer, and it installs the drivers, but it wont show up in the "My Computer"/"Computer" Section. I tried it on XP, and 7 via my netbook, and i tried it on 7 with my desktop, all fail. is there anything i can do!?

I used an adapter that my external Portable HDD had to connect it.

EDIT: serves you right for trying to mod/hack your PS3, why are people never content on just having stuff and enjoy having it, why do they have to mess with things??

EDIT: also the correct spelling i think you will find is help, you know with a 'E' not an 'A'

Honestly Xero, same thing goes to you - You almost jump the thread starter for doing whatever he wants with his own hardware.

Sweet, well i guess i'm screwed. I'll probably borrow somebody's PS3, and swap out the drives, and back it up with my backup drive (with the PS3 backup util.). thx guys, this thread is no longer needed. How do i lock this thread? (I can lock my own thread, right? i know i can do it on all the other sites i visit.)

Yea, it was physical heat damage, i didn't try to mod it at all.

You realise he wasn't trying to mod/hack his PS3?? His PS3 died so he was innocently trying to back up his save data.

As soon as you stick the hard drive into a different PS3 it will ask you to format it...
