For those of you who aren't afraid of betas, we've been working for the past month and a half on a program that lets you create your own logons for Windows XP.

Instead of distributing multiple logonui.exe'sund the net, this program applies the resources themselves. That is, each logon is just a directory with the appropriate bitmaps and a configuration file.

Not only does it apply logons but it lets you easily make them yourself.

It's also freeware.

It's currently just a developer's release, that is, for people who think they might make logons. DeviantART has created a LogonXP section for it to submit your logons.

If you've previously made logonui.exe'sgonXP can automatically extract them to a directory (i.e. you can read in your logonui's and modify them from there).

I'm not explaining this too well (too late at night I guess), here's a screenshot:

You can download it at:

LogonXP dev release

To get started on a new one, you just press the "new" button which will create the standard XP logon that you can modify from there. It also has some layout templates included to make it easy to have your user accounts over on the left, right, bottom, top, etc. (you can make your own as well).

Have fun!

cool program...very nicely put together...but I find it very annoying that on every single logonui I import (or create) with LogonXP it throws "LogonXP from Stardock and Luca Saggese 2001" on it. We know what program we're using...must we be reminded every time we log on??? Or is there some option that I'm missing to turn that off. I'd rather stick with Resource Hacker if I'm gonna have stardock printed on every screen I see.
