PCI-E / CPU Sync or ASync

Recommended Posts

Question says it all really: Sync mode, it alters the PCI-E bus automatically with your FSB change, ASync mode, it stays at 100 MHZ. Which option is better for both max overclock, overall system performance, and stability?

Also, I have the option to change the PCI-E speed manually, is there any performance advantage to be gained through overclocking the PCI-E bus?

Thanks

Stability wise it's better to keep the PCIe bus at 100MHz, so ASync. That'll allow for higher CPU/RAM overclocks.

I don't know what's better performance wise. I'm still using a Dell motherboard, and I won't have an overclockable motherboard for another couple of months.

Leave it Async, no performance hit by it and then when you OC you dont accidently raise the PCI-E bus.

AKAIK, it's best to leave the PCI-E bus at 100-110Mhz as the performance gain is near nil and can cause more problems that benefits.
