Direct Input

Ive started dabbling in directx and ive managed to create a window that displays text. I can get it full screen and such thanks to the starter header files they supply with the DX SDK. But I want it to exit when the escape key is pressed. Ive looked at a few tutorials but since my code is different from others it doesnt seem to work right. anyone have a good tutorial or a quick lesson for it?
