IE8 won't open links

I am having this odd IE8 problem with Vista Business. When I open IE I can click all I want on the link, but it will never open. I have tried dozens of websites and they all do the same thing. I have done resets on all of my setting and no luck. I would use Firefox, but I need to use IE for certain web apps. Is there anything else I can try?

Did you try reinstalling IE all together? I believe I had a similar problem and once I reinstalled it worked again.

I have tried many times. I may just try and downgrade to IE7.
