[i] GTA Chinatown Wars Coming Fall 2009

Recommended Posts

If you head over to the GTA Chinatown Wars website it says it will be available Fall 2009 for iPhone & iPod Touch.

Who plans on getting this for Touch/iPhone when it comes out? I probably will because I'm dying to play an official GTA game on my Touch.

Yep probably will! Any screenshots of it on an iPhone / iPod Touch device yet? Interesting to see if it's any better than the DS version. I expect some changes because of the different resolutions of the devices.

I haven't saw screenshots yet but I would imagine it would look similar to the DS version.

I will be, hoping the price will be ?5.99 max.

I really liked Chinatown Wars on the DS, just never got round to playing it much:wacko::

Haha, don't hold your breath. The DS version was ?30, the PSP version will probably be around ?20-?30, and now they're remaking it again for another different format. I'm guessing it's going to be ?15, maybe even ?20. Most definitely not unde:p?10 :p

Also, why do people think it'll look as good as the DS version? It'll look -at least- as good as the PSP version, if not better. The iPhone has double the processing speed and quadruple the amount of available RAM as the PSP, I have a funny feeling they may boost the visuals a little.

I'm not sure what the price will be tbh, Madden 10 is only ?5.99, and most EA games are less than ?3 now.

Perhaps Chinatown will be worthy of the higher price, if its a full game, slightly worried about the controls though.

Does it not lack slightly in the 3D processing section though? Whilst Chinatown Wars isn't a graphical powerhouse of a game, it was rather impressive on the DS :) I think it may struggle to reach PSP standards, but certainly should manage DS.

I'm impressed :-) Is that just a 3Gs game or all of the Touch/iPhone models?

Sadly though I think tilting a device is a pretty naff way of controlling things when you are also trying to see what's happening on it.

Not sure about original models but definitely works on the 3G. Also, lots of different control methods, I personally like to hold the left half of the screen to turn left, right to go right and depending on where my finger is vertically = accelerate or decelerate from memory but haven't played the game in weeks.

Standard 3g that is. I can't afford a 3gs :( That was when i first got the game, now I don't bother with the tilt, you can touch each side to steer.

Well the DS version is... so why wouldn't the PSP one be? :p

Here are some screenshots of the PSP version

I expect the iPhone version to look very similar to these :p

Looks nice, will be picking up on the PSP on release :)

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
