Do note that the test system uses an i7 920 so your frame rates may not be the same as theirs.

I am buying a whole new PC at first I only wanted to spend ?500 then it shot to ?600 and now ?655 and the graphics card is apparently not up to the job. PS want it for gaming (spore, ra3, wow, Mirrors edge, the sims 3 and windows 7 xp mode virutalisation.

For the money I would pick up the 260+ overclocked. It's pretty impressive for the money. But make sure you have a 575W power supply and a few extra connectors :)

I just picked up the 295 and its a beast. I had the 260+ and was happy but I wanted to see how much better this one was and its leaps and bounds. I don't play games that often but I work in 2650x1600 in Dual Monitor Mode and thought I would play Crysis on it. It's pretty impressive. Not sure if I would go for the SLI configuration on it. I am happy that I have the room to do it as the cards are getting massive anymore.

I like ATI as well but over the last couple of years I have moved towards Nvidia and have stayed with them since.

Good luck. As some have also recommended the GTX 260(overclocked) is a very capable card for the money.

Again Benchmarks tell me nothing I need to know X graphics card will run X game at X settings. My whole gaming PC idea is falling apart totally since I cant keep the rest of the spec I want and up the graphics.

So basically you don't understand how to use the benchmarks and table. You didn't even know how well a 9500GT performed vs a GTS 250. The whole idea of me giving you the links to the table was to educate you on the general tier's of video cards based on their performance, and the benchmarks help show you performance numbers under various conditions so you can make wise decisions of $/Performance between the various cards. It would suck to find out you spent $50 more on a card that may only bring you for example only ~3FPS more  . Certainly the games that are benchmarked are not the same ones you play, but somebody has to standardize it somewhat to create some meaningful comparisons.

And you didn't even tell us what resolution your monitor is. :pinch: You want us to help you figure out how X graphic card will run X game and X settings without giving us that information

Ok ive decided finally that I will not be getting a GTS250 or below so its from the GTX260 and above has anyone got the GTX260 or above and what can you run on in and what can you run at high settings? etc

You have to be specific about high settings..

A) What resolution is native to your monitor? I have Dual 30's and they max at 2560x1600. Once you get over the 1900x1200 resolutions you are talking about some serious horsepower to run full boat on any good game title.

If you can obtain it locally and have a 15/30 day return policy get the card and see if it would work for you.
