RadishTM Veteran Posted October 14, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 14, 2009 Website here - http://www.innovationcooling.com/ Has anyone here tried this diamond-based thermal compound? I'm intrigued about how well it works :) Radish? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/833522-ic-diamond/ Share on other sites
+Mystic MVC Posted October 14, 2009 MVC Share Posted October 14, 2009 Almost a four degree Celsius drop for load sounds great. None of my friends have tried it yet but I might volunteer to be the guinea pig on this one. RadishTM Veteran Posted October 14, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted October 14, 2009 I've found a few resellers in the UK that stock it, I might give it a go as well. Radish? shifts
I know a few people that have personally tried it. A common mistake is to put the paste on and then get going rather than leaving it cure for a good few days. After curing the temps dropped further from just running it after applying the solution. Theres a review here where its gone up a few other thermal compounds so you can see how it performs. The first shop I believe in the uk to start stocking it was one called watercooled-pcs.co.uk and they are still showing stock. Hope this helps Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/833522-ic-diamond/#findComment-591702186 Share on other sites

Jason S. Global Moderator Posted October 21, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted October 21, 2009 i was going to buy it, but shipping was the same price (or more) as the paste. unreal. i cant justify it. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted October 23, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted October 23, 2009 hey let us know how it works! i need to lower my load temps Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/833522-ic-diamond/#findComment-591743978 Share on other sites
RadishTM Veteran Posted October 23, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted October 23, 2009 :p What temperatures do you get Jdawg683 with your i7 920? I had the Q6700 doing Prime95 with small FFT's the day before for the paste to cure, when IC say it's two hours if I remember correctly. Running now with the AC Freezer Pro 7 and IC Diamond, my Q6700 @ 3.33GHz went down on idle by 4c (previous temp with AS5 used to be 44c) and on load by 5c (previous temp with AS5 used to be 65c) (Y) I'm pleased with the results so far :) Downsides are that the paste is hard (needs warming up through hot water), not free-flowing like AS5 and doesn't spread out using a card. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted October 28, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted October 28, 2009 after 30-60 mins of Prime95, my load temps top 79C on the hottest core. all is stable, but it's so hot... and that's w/ the Megahalems! i reapplied my AS5 last week, but havent noticed much of a difference yet. im chocking it up to bad airflow through the case... not much else i can do for the case. how did you apply it Radish? it doesnt spread w/ a card... :ermm:  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/833522-ic-diamond/#findComment-591769348 Share on other sites
RadishTM Veteran Posted October 28, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted October 28, 2009 I put a small 5mm dot of the paste in the center of the CPU, the applying pressure of the AC Freezer Pro 7 spread it well. Since doing this however, I've switched to a Xigmatek HDT S1283 and had to apply two lines of the paste due to the copper heat pipes. Idle temperatures have gone down further, up to 3c and load temperatures by 2c. Radish? Circaflex
ive used it, its hard to work with. i thought applying lines was the wrong way to apply paste... the only real "wrong" way to apply TIM, is using too much. +Mystic MVC Posted October 29, 2009 MVC Share Posted October 29, 2009 i thought applying lines was the wrong way to apply paste... Arctic Silver's guides recommend one line down the middle. i_was_here
i thought applying lines was the wrong way to apply paste... If the heatsink has the heatpipes exposed in the base using lines would be good. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted November 4, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 4, 2009 wow - see, i still use the method of putting a small dot in the center and spreading it out w/ a plastic card... you get an extremely thin, even coat Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/833522-ic-diamond/#findComment-591803198 Share on other sites
