MBP Battery Calibration Issue

I let my computer drain last night to calibrate the battery and I read somewhere that the sleep light should stop pulsing at one stage and enter it's 'safe sleep' state where an image of the desktop or whatever is stored for when you start up the computer again.

Last night though, my computer remained in sleep mode, where the light was still pulsing so it didn't turn off as such.

Any ideas why? It's charging back up now as I'm going to re-test it again tonight and would be good to know if i've missed something.

What the instructions are describing is simply how to drain the last bit of juice out of the battery. When I have calibrated my batteries, i let them drain with the screen lid open until the computer begins to hibernate. This is visibly apparent by a progress bar that looks very similar to the microphone volume level bar (for example) on a dimmed screen. Then you just let the laptop sit until the breathing light stops (could take a few hours). After that is all said and done your battery should be completely drained and you can now start charging it.

Back to your last question, you're probably fine not hitting the safe-sleep stage. As long as you don't leave the battery plugged in 24/7 and do discharge it semi regularly no worries.

As with all forums however, take my advice with a grain of salt lol.
