My start up time is like 3-5 seconds. This is so slow compared to previous versions of firefox where the start up time is around 0.5-1.5 seconds.

I've taken notice it is slower then it was on Vista.

Internet Explorer puts it to shame.

There's really no "solution" other than Mozilla fixing the issue themselves.

Try Firefox 3.6 beta. It's supposed to start [a lil] faster.

do firefox know the existence of this problem?? I hope they do.

Also, I don't like IE at all. If firefox don't pull through this time, I might go over to chrome or opera.

I have this issue as well. I tried some software called Firefox Preloader, which apparently loads firefox into memory on startup - but it doesn't work.

I found a solution though, Google Chrome.

It's megafast at loading. It's a shame Firefox is slow as hell, I liked addons.

Also, I've just tried SpeedyFox and it doesn't do anything either sadly.

Try Firefox Preloader. With it, Firefox loads in milliseconds, cuz it's already running, lol.

Sucks that it has to be that way, wasting ram and resources, but then again, IE loads so fast cuz most of it is already running with Windows itself.

Oh, also, maybe upgrade to Firefox 3.5.4, may be a tad faster, or go for the higher betas.

Also, the more plugins, the slower Firefox starts. But the plugins are what makes Firefox useful, lol.

3 seconds is a pretty fast startup time, it takes 2 seconds to start up here.

Even then, there's nothing for Mozilla to fix, as there's been no problem identified.

it starts up slow.... there's the problem :(

the number of add-on I have is not even that many... Also, I do have the lastest firefox, and its about the same...

The number of add-ons isn't nescessarily the cause, it's more on what add-on is causing the slowdown, as with any applications plugins. Removing one plugin can make all the difference in the world.

But that one plugin may be the plugin you can't live without.

I know at when I first installed FF 3.5, it started up superfast, then I started installing plugins, and noticed it getting slower. But then at one point, I disabled plugins one by one and checked load times, till I found one that really was causing a substantial slowdown, and it wasnt one I really needed, so I removed it, but then installed more plugins, and what I have now, I want. So the only other alternative, was to run Firefox Preloader, although I don't like how it wastes so much ram at times.

Firefox really need to get their ****ing act together this time. With Chrome, Safari and Opera as competition, firefox is starting to slack off!!!! Also, i don't think I have unreasonable add-ons at all. With a computer like mine, it shouldnt be starting up this slow at all. The only reason Im using FF is because I love the add-ons. When these add-ons are available for other browsers, I bet many folks will switch.

    • yeah it seems to be Edge only. The dialog buttons work as expected in Chrome and Firefox. The phone is using Android 16 (OneUI 8.5) and Edge version  149.0.4022.53
    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
