Intel SSD now brings TRIM support

Recommended Posts

Holy crap I am so glad I didn't touch mine. I almost did it yesterday.

There's still a chance it would've worked fine. But then again, there's plenty of people in that situation right now, where they have upgraded fine, but are now wondering if their SSD is a ticking time bomb waiting to brick :o

resonable price , very good

They gave me a wicked deal on an i7 860 with a new DG55WB series mobo as well - $200. I couldn't resist. With that SSD and a cheap case with psu, i'm looking at a $400 KILLER pc. Of course, I'll have to take a video card out of my old PC, but that's nothing. Hopefully by the release date or even a month after, kingston in conjunction with intel will be releasing the TRIM support that is promised.... bug free.

We have been contacted by users with SSD issues after using the firmware upgrade tool (version 1.3) in a Windows 7* 64 bit environment. Intel has replicated the issue on 34nm SSDs (X25-M) and is working on a fix. If users have downloaded 02HA firmware and not upgraded, Intel recommends they do not upgrade until further notice. Intel is pursuing the resolution of this as a high priority. No related issues have been reported by users who have successfully upgraded to 02HA firmware via the firmware upgrade tool (version 1.3).

No fix yet, but at least they have replicated the problem.

I want to get into SSD. As a consumer, please advise me on what a low-risk solution would be. Don't worry about price, I want what IS satisfactory without having to read reviews on 5 different sites that say different things. :D

Yeah I saw that today in BPN. I finally went for the G2 aswell, once it came back in stock in the UK. Unfortunately I can't update yet as my motherboard died and I'm waiting on the replacement. I'm still on the firmware before the bricked version.

From reading the Intel Community forums though, it seems this update has went off without a hitch.

Yeah but can't you use the SSD Toolbox to send TRIM commands to the drive? You can run that instead of de-fragmenting like you have to do on a normal HDD :p

I think there's one bug they're trying to fix before putting it back up for download.
