There was a program that would let you add shortcuts to the right side of XPs Start Menu. It would let you browse for the program and the icon. I'll see if I can dig it up.

i could make up something quick in VB to do that, but i don't think anyone would use it :(

it's much easier just to edit the reg file yourself.

edit: nevermind, read next post :shifty:

::update::

OK I am making a small program to do just this. I should have it finished within the next week.

It's compiled in C++, and lets you enter the values for what is needed then you apply.

Simple, so look for it here in teh coming week.

i'll race you

except mine will be in VB6

FINISHED :D

here it is, this will let you add your own custom OEM icon :D enjoy.

btw, i'm also looking into the possibility of additional icons. what makes me think it's possible is that microsoft released a new patch that adds a new icon (set program access and defaults) to the start menu. i'll post what i find later, and possibly update the program too :)

email comments and suggestions to [email protected] with the subject "OEM Icon Maker", otherwise it won't get through the filter...

OEM_Icon.exe

OEM_Icon.exe

Oh well, might have to wait for more feedback from others.

Might be me, dunno, but i only reformatted 3 days ago (6/6/03)

EDIT

I just tried it on another XP Computer, installed 27th May and doesnt work either, same error message.

Dunno if this help but i aint using framework.

Damn, blind as a bat.

Sorry man.

Grrrrr, yeh works(peeved at myself for making that mistake)

But you may have to tell persons to download and place the file in the system32 folder if they get that error.

I found a version of that file but is older then yours but does work.

it should work with any version of that file, it's the common dialog OCX. just stuff like "browse" windows, etc. anyway, here's the file if anyone needs it. put it in the \windows\system32 folder.

ok, now back to getting multiple icons
