Microsoft Java VM

It seems that it can't be found any more on M$ website for instalation on winXP, Server 2003 or 2000.

Can someone help me?

yup yup, I'd like an alternative to sun's java (it's a bit slow)... i need it for XP pro as well

it's on the windows update catalog as "816093: Security Update Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)". or look at http://www.filemirrors.com for "msjavx86.exe"

the newest build is 5.0.3810 and the size is 5.07 MB (5,319,000 bytes)

slow sun java = try one of the other versions the 4x versions will eather be fast as hell for you or slow as fuk :/

3x are pretty good they work well for most people

try opera 7.11 that includes java :) no more slow

I have had problems with Sun's java as well. In particular, I have had it lock up my browser while visiting some websites. An example would be to run the speed test at dslreports.com.

oh for opera you need to minimise the window to let the java app work there some kinda bug in there speed test app i emailed them about it and they duno what causes it yet

I've experienced that problems with Sun's java in both IE and Firebird.

gameguy, I dl that stinken file from filemirrors.com and I think it's a trojan... ****.. I did not even install it... did not intended to install it but the stupid IE download screen popup after completion and while I was typing message, it execute the program and it did not do anything... it's not even a legit msjavx86 file... it just create a DOS batch file... ****...

the update found on M$ Win Update downloads is only an update, so it needs an existing version to be installed :-/

Dont blame gameguy

That is the legit file name, file mirrors is a place to download the file you want under that filename.

If someone renamed a 'trojan' to that filename, then of course gameguy cannot be blamed for that now can he?

And how do you know its a trojan?

I did not blame gameguy... yeah it sounds like it but I was not blaming him.. I was complaining to him and want to make everyone aware of that also...

I don't know for sure it's a trojan. The file is over 5meg but when executed, it does nothing but write some dll file to the WINDOWS\System32 and write a short DOS script... and the file does not have it's own legitmate install icon.. it has windows default application icon...

this is an old version of the file, but the new one has the same icon.

scan the file for viruses, it might be the normal installer. try loading some java applets, do they load? look in internet options, on the advanced page. there should be a section for the microsoft java VM. if not, it's not installed and that's either the wrong file or it had an error installing.

try launching it from a command prompt, that should let you see what it outputs in the dos box.

You probably download the right one.. the one I download is way over 5meg.. 5.37meg and the date on it is 6/5/03 and it does not have that icon...

Now cos MS dont have a outright JavaVM offically anymore, they do however update. In other words, you need a old version of VM to install the newer 3810 version from Windows Update.

Kinda sux but blame a slow SunJava and a lawsuit for that.
