According to Mozilla's release dates' wiki page Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 is delayed from 28 October to Late October. Erm , what does late mean to them ? Its already 29 and 2 days are left for October to end, moreover , Beta 1 builds are already code-frozen , this means no new Beta 1 builds will appear.

Whatever Mozilla is doing , i just want them to release it before years' end so as to release 3.7 before Chrome 4's release. If they do so , then Firefox would attain even better hold in the market share , as 3.7 will fix most of the problems of firefox (slow start up revisions , speed improvements , UI change) and would be at better position to compete with Chrome 3/4 . BTW i dont think chrome 4 will be out that soon , as extensions are landed in Chrome 4 and therefore heavy testings are left.

Till then have fun with 3.5.4 :)

I remember once the release date of Beta 1 was early September , O God! From early september to late october!!!

When will Beta 2 come , and then RC , i dont think they will be able to release it this year , 2 months and 3 great releases!

from what i heard , if they couldn't fix aero peak related bugs on time , they will just remove the feature from 3.6

then release 3.6 beta 1 without the feature

that mean you well have to wait for 3.7 for that feature.

or respective addons :)

btw , if beta 1 is already code-frozen , then why cant they release it now ? i mean beta 2 is now developing and no more changes are made for beta 1 , so what is wrong in releasing it?

with all those delays with the public release of Firefox 3.6 Beta 1, there may NOT be a Beta 2 release being planned and mozilla could just go straight to RC. I've read on this page that a proposed "code freeze" of Firefox 3.6 RC would take place in mid-November but that might be a reach.

The chances of FF3.6 being released by the end of this year are getting a lot smaller, bogas04. Most likely the final release of version 3.6 would be due out sometime in the beginning of year 2010 when Mozilla ends all support for Firefox 3.0.

Looks like you'll have to wait until Halloween (Oct. 31), worst case scenario of course, for the actual release of FF3.6b1 to come out. If Mozilla doesn't make it available by the end of October, start participating in the Google Groups "mozilla.dev.planning" Usenet group section, contact either Damon Sicore or Mike Beltzner of Mozilla as to why they have postponed the release of Firefox 3.6 beta 1 so many times. I'd like to hear their responses to the questions on all those delays with the FF3.6b1 release.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 1

* mkaply noticed that we changed the behaviour of the frozen interface (nsIPrefBranch.idl) which means we need to respin

* this will delay the beta 1-2 days

does that answer your question as to why Mozilla hasn't made a public release of FF3.6b1

thanks for that info :D

Yes u heard it right ,

we may need to remove Aero Peek Preview Per Tab due to implementation problems; if we can't get bug 520807, bug 520943 and bug 522262 fixed by the end of the week, we'll likely pull it

A quick update:

read the following Google Groups mozilla.dev.planning thread by Mike Beltzner on the upcoming Firefox 3.6 Beta release:

hmm, it looks like there may be a 3rd candidate build of FF3.6b1 coming. oh-boy. :o

Unfortunately, this is just fairly normal software development.

Yes, it's annoying for the users - but imagine how it is for the developers. They just want to get the damn thing finished, but even on simple software project there can also be so so many edge cases you would never have thought of :(

Ah, the life of a product manager...

    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues.
