Have you used any of those? WriteRoom and Mariner Write are great apps.

WriteRoom looks like nano but with word wrapping, unless it does something else I'm missing.

so basicaly a textfield with the color you like on a background with the color you like.

Take c# express, make new project, set your form to fullscreen without borders, add multiline textfield with anchors so it stays centered, press compile, tadaaa you have writeroom for windows without writing one single line of code.

Not saying it's a bad idea, just don't understand why people would ever want to pay 25 dollars for it.

But that's just my opinion ofcourse ;)

DaisyDisk was the only app there I'd have probably used.

Because they're mad. I wanted the program, but I'm not paying $25 for something so basic. But I got it free now so it's all good.

$25 is probably a little extreme for it, but it is more than just a full screen text field. It has plenty of customization options.

It would be nice if WriteRoom would allow you to have something like 4 documents open at once on bigger screens (like the new 27" iMac ;))

If you go within the next 20 hours or so, they have unlocked Mariner Write so it is now Free as well. If you don't have Office or Openoffice/Neoffice this is a good alternative. :)

So what happens when the time is up? they add more software or are they just releasing those 6 bits of software?

When the time is up, that is all they are going to do. Hopefully they will do something like their giving tree they had last year at Christmas, but this might be the 2009 version of that.

They will be doing a Macheist 4 next year which will be more full scale and full blown where you solve puzzles and "Earn" your software for free. I got over 30 pieces just from the last year alone in dealing with them. About 14 of those I bought through their bundle they sell for around $30usd which often carries well over $1500 in software for that price.
