Alert on accessing remote computer.

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

Need a little help regarding Alert Message on accessing remote computer,

Is there any software or tool that gives you alert when ever any one on the LAN or WAN network accesses your computer.

for example some one on my network enters in my computer and access my stuff, at that time my computer give me alert or little message that --- --- --- this person with ip address or computer name has entered in your computer.

Note: Access the computer means \\computername or \\ipaddress from RUN command in start menu.

Thanks in advance.

Danish.

Um why don't you just set your permissions not to allow acess if you dont want them accessing it?

But sure I guess you can setup audit to log all this access and it will be entered into the event log. Once its in the event log you could setup something to actually give you a pop up or something I guess.

Something like this (free)

http://www.netwrix.com/event_log_archiving...n_freeware.html

Supports real time alerting on event log items.. So setup a audit of your shares, and then a tool like the above to give you an alert when the audit item happens.

To access your system, user have to auth - unless your using simple file sharing with guest, and still that is an auth.. So if you setup auditing on just auth that will be logged in the event log, and then you could setup real time alerts on those events, etc. etc.

Depending on the software, no there will be no alert esp if the administrators have disable the alerting feature (if it is capable of being disabled). Dameware, pcanywhere, altiris, etc all have the ablity to disable any end user alerts, but all have the ability to enable them. There are other softwares that you may not even know that are on the machine that record everything that you do that do not tell you anything about what is going on or even hint to it. They also can have certain websites flagged also that whenever someone access it, their filtering device may send them an alert.

Be aware that anything and everything that you do can be recorded and scrutinized. If what you are doing is wrong or not business productive, don't do it or just simply limit yourself so that it doesn't effect your work. When it does or your work production is diminishing it will be looked at quite heavily. This is my opinion, and may not necessarily hold true in your environment, but I can pretty much assure you that IT has better things to do than to monitor every user on their network. Now if you are some hot chick that floats in their radar, they may snoop around a bit to get a feel of what you are in to.

SC I did not read is post that he is any kind of a corp environment, etc.. Maybe he is? Sounds more like a home or school type setup where he has created shares on his machine and wants to know when someone accesses them, etc.

If he was in a corp setup -- to be honest there would normally not be any shares on his computer, nor would he have the permissions required to create them or change audit settings, etc.

very true, however, just covering all bases. but in a home or lab environment why would anyone care about a popup.

(could be my over compensating or not reading things fully, or just giving more information than what is required. sometimes I do say too much or not enough, lol).

Im not understanding the need for what he is asking for anyway?? If you shared files on your computer -- why would you want to be notified any time someone accesses them? Seem pretty freaking annoying to me ;)

Either you want users able to access or you don't ;) You can always just look in your sessions list to see who might be connected to your machine.. be it with the gui or just from a command line.

NET SESSION

[\\computername] [/DELETE]

NET SESSION lists or disconnects sessions between the computer and other

computers on the network. When used without options, it displays information

about all sessions with the computer of current focus.

    • Here's how to watch Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe E3 as we know it might be dead, but Summer Game Fest is still going strong with its scheduled events in June. For five years now, Geoff Keighley has been organizing and hosting the video-game-centered platform to get developers and publishers a central location to have their reveal events. Summer Game Fest itself has its own massive show, and tonight, that kickoff event is going live with a whole bunch of announcements, updates, and more. The Summer Game Fest showcase hosted by Keighley is scheduled to go live at 2 PM PT | 5 PM ET | 10 PM BST later today, June 6. The live show is being hosted at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles and is slated to run around two hours. To watch it online, viewers can tune into the show's YouTube (4K at 60 FPS), Twitch, Twitter, and Steam pages. Separate streams featuring American Sign Language and Descriptive Audio are available on YouTube as well. Not much information has been released regarding what gaming fans can expect to see at the event, but there are some clues and teasers to follow. Hideo Kojima is attending the event like always, meaning Death Stranding 2: On The Beach should get a brand-new trailer, unless it's a misdirect of some kind. The next entry in the Mafia franchise, The Old Country, the Soulslike action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a surprise from the Splitgate 2 developer 1047 Games, a Fortnite-focused event from Epic Games, and new content for Atomic Heart should appear during the show. Being a rather long showcase, there should be plenty of other surprise reveals and announcements on stage, especially from major publishers like Ubisoft and 2K, which do not have their own dedicated summer events. Right after the main kickoff event, the Day of the Devs showcase will begin its own festivities at 4pm PT | 7pm ET. This is focused entirely on upcoming indie games. Later in the day, Devolver Digital and IO Interactive are hosting their own showcases. Here's the full calendar.
    • TIL you can report articles. reported as ad lol.
    • Paid US$798 for the 85" model which seemed like a better deal. Pretty nice TV.
    • Apple is making a scary move: a private company overchallenging a legit government and legislation. I am not a fan of democracy, but I am more scared of corporatism. The EU must take a strong stance now: Apple should comply with the law or face consequences, and it must do so immediately.
