splur
Maybe record the temperature of the GPU/CPU? I doubt it's an overheating problem, but... it won't hurt to give it a shot? +PeterUK MVC Posted November 2, 2009 MVC Share Posted November 2, 2009 Can find a post of the hardware you got so I'm thinking this is a new build you done? i7 with an X58? 6GB likely points to that. Run a memory test on the RAM and what PSU do you have. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591791268 Share on other sites

Dance.
Yeah I think it's your PSU. Also, off topic but are the latencies on your RAM modules the same (Different RAMs) ? +PeterUK MVC Posted November 2, 2009 MVC Share Posted November 2, 2009 450W Coolermaster (about 3 years old) You know you only need four more letters to spell problem with something so old. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591791354 Share on other sites
ozgeek
Don't think PSU is problem. I read some people have 2 video cards that work fine on a 400w PSU. What are the temps on the card? Also what maker is the card. I also have GTX260 (Gigabyte branded) too and it works fine on all my games but if I update to the latest drivers, I have the problem where any games I play, the computer would reboot without warnings. I'm about to email the Gigabyte people about this. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591793344 Share on other sites
RAID 0
Yeah I think it's your PSU. Also, off topic but are the latencies on your RAM modules the same (Different RAMs) ? Good call. I'd take out the two gig set, just to be sure. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591794078 Share on other sites
Xerxes
It *might* be the PSU but it depends on how good the current one is (the most important factor is how much the PSU puts on the 12V rails)? I have a GTX 260 (Asus as well) running quite happily off a 375W PSU with no issues. It might be a memory issue, as others have suggested try testing your RAM to see if there are any errors. Athlonite
Ur PSU might have coped with it 3yrs ago but probably can't now i'd hazard a guess that the most you could safely pull outta that psu is now 380~390W and miss matched ram is never a good idea Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591794462 Share on other sites
Geranium_Z__NL
Yeah i fixed it... Some cable was hanging in the Cooler of my video card.. i was like @#&!^@#!@#&@! but yeah its fixed.. it was the SPDIF out from the motherboard to the videocard for HDMI sound, since i never use it anyway i ripped it off... and got it out of the cooling ;).. Works like a charm now :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591816928 Share on other sites
tsupersonic
My case is so tight in space, that the same thing happened to me, some cable was blocking the graphics card fan from spinning. Computer was fine (no black screen or anything), but after a game, gpuz reported gfx card was 100c. I opened up the case and was like d'oh! Now it idles at like 34-37c and gets up to 48-54c after a game Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/841050-gtx-260-6-gb-ram/#findComment-591817194 Share on other sites
