MBAMs database stolen by IObit?

This announcement was posted in Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware forums a couple of hours ago. Quote:

Malwarebytes has recently uncovered evidence that a company called IOBit based in China is stealing and incorporating our proprietary database and intellectual property into their software. We know this will sound hard to believe, because it was hard for us to believe at first too. But after an indepth investigation, we became convinced it was true. Here is how we know.

We came across a post on the IOBit forums that showed IOBit Security 360 flagging a specific key generator for our Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware software using the exact naming scheme we use to flag such keygens: Don't.Steal.Our.Software.A.

Looks like other security vendors are getting wind of this now too (malwarebytes wasn't the only database ripped off). IOBit is going down.

Up on til last week I have never heard of this program...that's when I got an email of a zdnet review I think...and it got high ratings...for malware/spyware removal.....

now we know why....I was wondering how the software suddenly appeared on the radars for such high reviews without any talk about it before..

I see that people are expressing their opinion via WOT. A fine idea. IObit should have a WOT site warning blocking their homepage...

I saw some IObit software on a PC the other day and trashed it - i'm always wary of the "You need to pay for this" message :p

I haven't run MBAM lately. And I have IObit 360 here. I wonder of MBAM will take it down if I gave it a spin? IObit is, after all, a rouge now. I will of cause trash IObit. I have better and licensed alternatives ready.

Well nuts. I actually like IObit's software -- and paid for it, including renewing my subscription to Advanced System Care Pro just last week. I also have Security 360, Game Booster and Smart Defrag. Now this...

The evidence is pretty compelling and I won't keep the software from corporate pirates on my computers. If I'd have known they were based in China, I would never have purchased their stuff.
