Social networking hits the Xbox 360 full-force on Tuesday when the next dashboard update goes live. bringing Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM to the masses.

Speaking to Fast Company, Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten revealed the launch date for the eagerly anticipated dashboard update, which brings console-tailored versions of Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM to Xbox 360 users. With the release day announcement, Whitten stresses that these aren't merely PC ports of the popular social networking sites, but entirely new entertainment experiences.

"We look at things like Facebook and Twitter as amazing social experiences, but also entertainment. We didn't want to copy and paste from the PC."

So who's excited? I'm actually looking forward to seeing how many of my Facebook friends get converted into Xbox Live contacts. I'll probably fiddle around with Facebook for a bit, and then turn on Last.FM and leave it running until the end of time.

i have been part of the Preview Program for this, its in the menu system to add status updates, you cant add photo's or anything like that though. also the menu system in the facebook app is kind of sluggish.

also it does not Auto Status Update what you are playing

there is a separate Facebook plugin on the PC Site that does that though

So how to you add content? Or is this read only?

Honestly....So f*ing what?

Hasn't the industry gone a little OTT about facebook and twitter?

Spend some time implementing something useful. Plug and play support for usb devices(Keyboards, mice, usb drives, wifi adaptors). A browser with flash and silver light support. Maybe a grill attachment to utilise some of the monstrous amount of heat the damn thing gives off. (mmm bacon and CoD)

On a serious note, if facebook starts automatically posting updates every time a player on xbox live kills something or unlocks some crappy achievement I'm going to start killing people*....and I'll start with you.

I agree they really need a browser, heck, both of these applications need a browser! You can't visit any of the links your friends post on Twitter/Facebook cause the 360 has no way to view them.

However what I find funny is when things like this get added people go balistic as if the whole 360/Live firmware team has spent 99% of their resources on them. Fact is there's probably a team within MS that deals with social media working on such integration not only with the 360, but other MS devices as well.

Other subsets within teams will be working on other areas of the firmware.

due to not having a web browser ( something i think it needs ) what use would a keyboard do, let alone a keyboard/mouse, if you want to use a keyboard/mouse to play games, use a PC

it does have the Chatpad for text entry ( a controller without that attachment feel weird to me now )

it also has USB flash drive AND iPod support

and install the game to the HDD to save on heat, mine doesnt give off as much heat as when playing from the disk

They could move over the browser that the ZuneHD has in the future, it just depends on how much MS wants to tie WinMo/xbox/zune all together in the future.

Not adding a browser could also just be for security reasons. If they did add on it'd be pretty locked down and not like what you have on the PC I bet.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
