Square Enix annouces new Lufia game

Recommended Posts

We understand Square Enix's desire to branch out, but its latest move is just ... it's incomprehensible. To go from being the world's premier developer of RPGs to creators of shower paraphernalia? It makes no sense, but it's what's happening -- according to a recent Famitsu article, Squeenix is now working on a new Luffa. This is uncharted territory for the company, but we can safely assume that it will be a very high quality Luffa, designed specifically for people with soft skin and outrageously spiky hair.

Update: It's been brought to our attention that the Famitsu article actually reveals that Taito (which Squeenix owns) is working on a new installment in the Lufia franchise (known as Estopolis in Japan), which looks a lot like "Luffa," so you really can't blame us for getting confused. No platforms have been announced, but the team from the original Lufia & the Fortress of Doom will be behind the wheel, so it should be fairly reminiscent of the classic SNES RPGs of yesteryear. Also, it probably won't help you clean yourself in the shower. Sorry about that.

Not sure why they posted some junk about "Luffa" but this is great news for anyone who loved the series on the SNES :) Hopefully this title will have better luck than any of the Estopolis games developed after Estopolis 2....

here's some screenshots http://rpgland.com/news/squres-new-lufia-g...with-cellphone/

and it's coming out on the DS

im saddened by all the new awesome RPGs going to portable consoles. even for portables the screens are small and it feels weird grinding on baddies like that :/ im just so used to the olden days of classic RPGs on consoles.

+1

At least given a PSP game you can hook it up to the TV. I guess it is because these games don't go whizbang (except maybe FF ) so the portable market is deemed enough :(

Yeah I hate RPGs on handhelds, can't even remember the last one I completed. I don't want to try and dedicate 20-40 hours staring at a small screen and getting hand cramps.

Probably be PS3/360 if consoles, I doubt it'll be 360 only if consoles as JRPGs have kind of tanked when they've gone 360 only - Most are now on the PS3 as well, or coming to the PS3 (Star Ocean/Tales of Vesperia/Eternal Sonata/etc).

It a shame, looks like it going to be on the DS and in 3D (don't tell me 3D rpgs look good on the DS...maybe on the psp but not on the DS)

:(

I don't mind 2D games, in fact new-age 2D is awesome (HD 2D is even MORE awesome).

But meh, should have known, fair few old classics reappearing... for DS... or PSP. Cmon PS3/360 love.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
