network issue

i don't know but since i remade my xp machine i've been having this problem:

\\**\**** is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

the windows fire wall is off and thats pretty much it anyone has any ideas before i reformated it worked fine

And what error does net view \\computernameyourtryingtoaccess give you?

My guess would be you don't have netbios enabled.

On your new xp install did you turn on netbios over tcp/ip?

What error do you get when you do

net view \\computernameyourtryingtoaccess

what error do you get when

net view \\ipaddressofcomputeryourtryingtoaccess

what do you get when you

ping computernameyourtryingtoaccess
