Best font manager

Being a graphic design student, I need to work with fonts and all, keeping in consideration the management and install issues. I'm looking for a good freeware/shareware font management software that enables me to view all (uninstalled/installed) fonts, installing/uninstalling, and managing libraries. Any suggestions as to which one is the best? moreover, i'm a little concerned over 'windows loading all the fonts at startup' issue. is there any workaround? like loading a font temporarily or any such feature that can disable the loading of fonts on startup. Help will be much appreciated.
