Scraggles
I just started using windows 7 about a week ago. About 2-3 days ago I noticed it's stuttering every 15 seconds or so. For example as I'm typing this, every so often my text stops type, while I continue, the text catches up with me about 3-4 seconds later, magically printing out the text right before my eyes. I tried watching the task manager but the only process that ever seems to spike, is in fact the task manager. Anyone know what the deal is? It isn't just while typing in a browser. Standard typing through MSOffice does the same, scrolling up and down on a webpage does it, scrolling up/down in an explorer window does it and it's annoying to say the least. It's happening in pretty much every program too. While I would like to absolutely rock the world on Modern Warfare 2, I doubt I'll ever pull it off with the ol' pc acting this way. I have not installed any more than the bare minimum yet as I'm trying to keep my pc organized for once. Thanks for any help you guys can provide. The PC is: Intel Q5500 @ 2.83ghz 4.0gb Ram Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 Windows 7 Ultimate Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/845830-windows-stutters-often/ Share on other sites
javagreen
Does this happen after you play any game? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/845830-windows-stutters-often/#findComment-591851002 Share on other sites
Scraggles
Before, during, after. It doesn't matter. It happens immediately after a restart too. Piggy
Installed motherboard drivers? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/845830-windows-stutters-often/#findComment-591851438 Share on other sites
Scraggles
Very first thing I did after the reformat and upgrade to Windows 7 was install all of the hardware drivers, and then update them. javagreen
Before, during, after. It doesn't matter. It happens immediately after a restart too. Interesting -- for me it stutters (and stutters BAD) only after I play any game, DirectX or OpenGL and I need to log off and log back in to make it go away. It's one of the biggest botherance I have with Windows 7. No solution found yet  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/845830-windows-stutters-often/#findComment-591853248 Share on other sites
Raa
I've never seen any of those issues on any of the PCs i've had Windows 7 running on. Did you try showing ALL processes in the list? Maybe it's a hidden process. Bad drivers usually come to mind, but viruses, spyware, and poorly written apps in general can cause this. Printers/scanners are particularly troublesome i've found. +allan MVC Posted November 16, 2009 MVC Share Posted November 16, 2009 Very first thing I did after the reformat and upgrade to Windows 7 was install all of the hardware drivers, and then update them. Same question - Did you install the chipset driver ahead of all other drivers? soldier1st
did you download the video drivers from nvidia, also did you check your startups as a runaway process or buggy driver can cause that.
