Petition 2 - To Infinity Ward

Recommended Posts

PC Gamers,

I?ve come to make a topic here because of a post made by one of your members on the FPSAdmin.com forums prior to the release of Modern Warfare 2 showing support for the game from your clan/members.

As we are very much aware Infinity Ward have yet to respond to the concerns and feedback of the PC Community about Modern Warfare 2. PC Gamers have come under a large amount of criticism for acting out with a petition in advance of the games release without knowing what it would be like.

Well now the game has been released and we do know what it is like. This is a call for anyone within the PC Community to show their support for a new petition entitled ?Modern Warfare 2 (PC) ? Post Release?. The idea behind the new petition is to show Infinity Ward (with a completely clean slate) that we do really still care about the issues and are providing them with the feedback that they need to do good by us.

The petition covers the need for:

- Support for an in-game console;

- Support for the ?/record? feature;

- Support for the lean feature;

- Support for auto-balancing;

- Support for multiple profiles;

- Support for better Graphics and FOV control;

- Support for actual ping readouts in ms (not graphs);

- Support for a tournament game type (like Promod);

Dedicated Server/IWNet specific:

- Support for mod tools and modded Dedicated Servers;

- Support for Punkbuster enabled Dedicated Servers;

- Support for Dedicated Server admins to choose player numbers (Max: 50);

- Support for PC gamers to choose if they wish to connect to an IWNet P2P server or a Dedicated Server (hosted by clans/individuals, etc)

Many PC Gamers are starting to give up on Infinity Ward ever making good of their damaging changes to the community. My response to that, and hopefully yours, is ?let?s give it one last shot?. Let?s unite as one PC Community!

The IW forums post for this is at http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopi...24&t=174552

The petition is at: http://www.petitiononline.com/mw2pcpr/petition.html

Thanks,

I would do it, however I'm sure people just see it as a waste of time. I really hate to be saying this but they just don't care about the PC platform any more.

As long as people buy the console copies, which is what they are more focused on anyway, then it will not effect (affect?) them anyway :(

Its the sad truth, but that's the way it is now :(

EDIT: And when I mean they, I mean IW, not the users :)

Quite, 200k signatures in that last petition, as long as console gamers don't give a **** about 200 ms pings and bullets that bend like in the movie Wanted (hurray for ignorance). Nothing will happen.

On steam?

Anyway, your point?

People are still playing it, boycotting something is NOT getting it, full stop.

You can pirate games and add them to steam as 'non steam games' and I believe one of the pirated versions kept the steam component in-tact but I'm not aware of how that works with the online services thing. Point is people may boycott it and yet still download the pirated release and believe they are still boycotting it by not paying.

I wish the prestige version was available in the UK, I can't find any retailer with it and I would buy it in a second.

Not going to say some people don't see it as a waste of time but theres still a PC Community out there that cares about the game and still wants to try and get IW to turn their decisions around surrounding the PC version.

But you know... you take in the stride of trying to find those that do care.

I stopped reading at this.

"- Support for better Graphics and FOV control;"

As if they are obligated to your opinion to change the game. Changing the graphics is not something a game developer would change in a patch.

They've removed a fair amount of control of graphics settings and FOV control within the game - it's been taken a step backwards from COD4 and it's on DX9. We're not asking them to move it to a better graphics engine.

The petition was started prelaunch so it was almost immediately discredited because people hadn't seen the game. New petition and post launch the aim is to show IW that we've seen their game and these are the changes the PC Community would like.

It's beyond boycotting now. Whether people purchased the game or not everyone on PC is part of the PC Community, this is about speaking as one community about the features and future of the game on PC.

My guess is this will fall on deaf ears.

Only if we let it.

Sorry, but I think this is stupid as well. If you didn't like the features, you shouldn't have bought the game. You can't buy a game and expect to make demands. They've already got your dollar, what do they care if you're angry?

I didn't buy the game. $60 for a feature ripped game, in comparison to their previous version mind you, with a short singleplayer campaign that leaves everyone in confusion and relying on wikis and such to actually figure out what the heck happened.

Honestly, it's probably better to compare this game with a hooker. Sure, she looks great, may have been great in the sack, but it wasn't going anywhere anyway, and you'll probably be left with major regret.

yeah people who bought the game and are like I don't like it change it please are stupid. I haven't bought the game and don't intend too and I'm more happy for it. It's not really difficult to make a mental decision to not buy something.

It's a game. If you don't like it dont play it. It is hardly a requirement for living to make sure Modern Warfare fixes/adds something you don't like.

Do something worthwhile. Even running around in your garden will reap more benefits to you than this petition.

As much as I'd love to support this petition, I don't see it changing anything. A company like Activision and Infinity Ward are in it for the money. If they don't see it as financially viable, they won't spend time and money to make the PC version better. To them, it's good enough already. And to us, it isn't (in terms of PC standards).

Meh, I'll just wait to see if any mates buy it on PC but it seems that most of them bought it on 360/PS3. I just want to play single player, I'm not a big fan of COD's multiplayer especially with that Punkbuster fiasco I suffered where it kicked me out constantly for some crappy API problem. Probs because I was using Win7 beta at the time but meh.

I would not sign this petition, i feel it went from "These are things we NEED" to "Here are some things we need, but while we are at it let's get greedy and throw in things we want" Get the necessities out of the way before you start asking for some other things, IW would look at a small petition of bare things before they look at a long list of huge features and graphical improvements.

I would sign it, if you didnt add all the extra crap. We just need the basics of multiplayer. not all the addons you're asking for.

How do you expect them to give us what we need for pc gaming, if you're making it pointless with the requests?

The entire list is based of PC Community feedback on the Infinity Ward forums since the release of the game. Whether you see it as "extra crap" or not this is what the PC Community has asked for. If you don't support it then don't sign it but don't start to put the feedback of other gamers down, which is resonable, because you think its utter rubbish.

Response above pretty much covers both except the graphics part refers to better graphics control which has been downgraded since COD4. None of the requests aren't anything that we haven't had before.

Feedback? This seems more like a list of things you think you're entitled to. PC gamers aren't a big of a market as they use to be. Take a look around and you'll notice that a generation has grew up on broadband and online gaming on consoles. PC owners are lucky to get the game these days! Let alone make a list of demands then expect developers to invest time in implementing them.

I'd say vote with your wallet but it won't make an ounce of difference in the CoD franchise.

everytime I hear somebody say that I lol and just think of WOW. while true that the overall the console market is bigger than the PC market, pc gamers shouldn't feel lucky they got any game and they should demand quality just like any good gamer will. If it wasn't for PC users, COD wouldn't exist. Games like cod4, wow, total war, etc show that you can make alot of money on the pc very easily if you just make a quality game. All of these games show that if you make a quality game and respect your fanbase like all of those developers do, the PC community will reward you.

too many developers release beta quailty as final products in pc and think oh we'll just patch it and then when it bombs wonder what happened. As all of this relates to MW2, the majority of pc gamers who did decide to actually boycott the game didn't ask for anything special or extra, they only asked for what had already been a staple of the series. Nobody said OMG you should have 256 players because MAG console will QQ, they just asked for the same multiplayer xp they got in the previous game.

IMO the effect of any boycott of the PC product was diminished when people bought the game and then thought activision would change it after they already had their money..i say -_- to those people. Anybody with a brain knows that IW did all of this for money and to charge pc users for content from this point forward. It had nothing to do with piracy, an easy multiplayer experience or nothing, just simply them wanting more money and I'm proud to say they won't get any of mine.

PC owners are lucky to get the game these days!

Thanks to publishers going for all the easy console gamer $$$ we'll be lucky to get a hardcore or realistic game suitable for adults on ANY platform again. MW2 is not an impressive game. It's a competently-made game, with big-budget production value, but it is a fairly generic, overhyped game when it comes to gameplay, innovation, level design, and story/characters. If you've played a CoD game before you might even feel the franchise has gone downhill even though the budget's gotten bigger.

Just like with movies and music, popularity doesn't equal quality. But games are on such tight margins they have no choice but to go for mass popularity, which means they have to dumb things down and make it cross-platform too. Those kinds of restrictions make it very difficult to make a good game. That's not even mentioning how played-out all the franchises and genres have gotten. This is like the sixth CoD game, isn't it!? I think they ran out of war movies and rejected Tom Clancy stories to rip off.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
