Just got my driver license

Recommended Posts

Actually my brother and my best friend both got it on first try too, so I felt quite a bit of pressure to achieve the same. When I parked the car and the evaluator started saying "I'll give you your license...", it was one of the greatest moments of relief in my life. Then she started criticizing my driving style, but I wasn't listening too much. :p

Is it hard where you are?
Couldn't speak in general. I have friends who tried numerous times and got failed for stupid things each time. At the same time, I made some pretty obvious mistakes during my driving test and still got it. I think trying in the winter is harder, while autumn is probably ideal (best visibility and road condition).

I thought I was the only 1 who got my drivers license late. I got my drivers license like 1 1/2 to 2 months ago and I'm already 21 (all of my friends drive). Going to be getting a car soon myself, probably a 2000 Celica GT for ~$4500 from a friend. The thing that sucks is that it's a stick (learned on an automatic) and driving an auto doesn't even feel completely natural to me yet. Oh well, another obstacle to overcome ;)

But anyway, congrats :)

I remember how nervous I was when I had mine. But, I had the nicest guy. He could obviously tell I was extremely nervous... telling me to "Do what the law tells you" as we approached each stop sign. I was so nervous, I forgot which way I need to move the lever for my left and right turn signals. He's standing behind the car, and he says, "Okay, go ahead and hit your left turn signal". I guessed, and luckily, I was right.

Congrats. Just don't go out there and abuse it like many young people tend to do (drinking/partying comes to mind). Remember: driving is a *privilege* not a *right* (at least in the US and contrary to what many teens would like to think).

Congrats Dr_Asik! (Y)

You're not the only one Se7enVII. I passed my driving test first time in the UK in July and I'm 23 :) I didn't see the point in learning at University as I knew I wasn't getting a car, so I just left it until after I graduated.

you are not the only one and i got my license at 23 as well =P

need a car to work... cant get my friends to drive me to work and back >.>

    • It depends, but it's also going to push more adoption of open source AI models that can run locally, I'm seeing a pattern among the US and China when it comes to closed and open source AI models, they close when they feel they have the advantage, open up when they feel they don't. This has little to do with security and everything to do with control, the irony is that the ones that do go open and get the community behind them are the ones that have the real control, hence why we keep seeing this seesaw from closed to open. Ultimately, it's far too dangerous to let any one country or corporation to control AI, which is why open source AI or AI you can run locally on your hardware is very likely going to be the future of AI over the long run, this is especially the case as AI becomes more powerful and useful for user, privacy, security and censorship will become more of an issue for users and businesses.
    • A person should only be required to click through to an article if they want to know more details. The headline should give basic facts. A basic fact would include the name of the service being shut down.
    • That would probably be a good outcome, but it would also require other "features" be changed to comply, such as Auto play, scrolling, and advertising. Having the laws shift these platforms back to a socially responsible and useful places is a benefit for everyone. The addictive nature is the problem, and while many blame the individual, psychologists would suggest the platform is using a well trodden playbook to hook in more revenue..
    • It is in fact being discontinued in the US in July.
    • It was a rather nice rant as I rather dislike when people support the shitifcation of the Internet. My comment also factually applied the definition of "clickbait' to this headline unlike your comment. I have been reading this site for some 20 years now so I will call them out when they are doing carp they shouldn't be doing but thanks for your concern. You can't even do a search by headline anymore to do a quick search to find something because most of the titles lack all the relevant keywords that should be there.
