HTC HD2 vs SE Xperia X10

Recommended Posts

so basically I'm having doubts between these 2 phones ( unless HTC does come with a 4.3 inch dragon android phone, than it would be between those 2, ...

The X10 is a little better hardware ( better camera, more ram ) but IMO WM is the better OS ( connectivity, X10 comes with android 1.6 which also means 65k colors, ...)

What do you guys think? The X10 does look good on paper but SE is always veeeery slow with updates so hopes for 2.0 are low IMO. WinMo is better in syncing ( outlook, winmedia player, ...) Android sucks at syncing media. The X10 also appears to suffer from the eye candy with all the animations ( but it's still an early build naturally )

I don't know, basically I don't see the appeal in the android OS over my trustworthy WinMo. Am I wrong with that? Does it have merits that I don't know about? The htc also seems less bulky with a slightly larger screen.

On the other hand, the timescape and such apps on the SE look very handy, but setting things up sound like a bit of a hassle and honestly I like Sense UI better in the looks department.

you see, pro's and con's are plenty, so if anybody would want to shed their light upon the matters, much obliged.

finally, some response thx :)

I've played with one since then and I have to agree, it's bloody fantastic. I don't get the appeal of android. I don't use any google services and the only ( limited imo ) advantageis open source. It doesn't do anything special, it's not fast, ... So yeah, somewhere next week I'll be getting my HD2

Sony have promised a timely 2.0 update and this phone appears to be their flagship phone, I think it will be getting alot of attention. If it ends up shipping after xmas I think you can expect an immediate 2.0 update. If the rumours come true and they launch pre-xmas you might be waiting for the 2.0 update.

Look if youre happy with WinMo id just as soon get the HD2. For me though, im a very long time WinMo user and im ready to try Andriod and I think the X10 might be the best option for that. Ive tried Iphone it was alright has plenty of merits but not for me and went back to WinMo. WinMo has lots of positives but I like the andriods take on the OS and the rachel interface sony has developed just looks great so im ready to give it a go. As long as I can sync with outlook and get exchange (which to the best of my knowledge I can) then I see nothing this phone cant do that a WinMo one can.

Edit: Bugger you I typed all that before I looked up and the read the last post so im standing by what I typed :p Like I said though, WinMo and HD2 have alot of positives I hope you enjoy your choice. I guess we wont know until the X10 is released but Sony are cranking out the builds for that phone and each build is seeing significant improvements in performance. Whilst clocked at the moment the snapdragon processors make more advances in the mobile platform that raw cpu. I think function, eye candy and timely multi-tasking is all possible on these hardware platforms.

Specs wise, the HTC HD2 has more RAM, 488MB RAM vs 256MB RAM on the X10.

HTC HD2 is also future upgradeble to WinMo7 and comes with multitouch solution from HTC.

Both phones are very good, the HD2 is availble now and the X10 is at least until February 2010.

heh: I just noticed you already bought HD2, please post opinions on it, I might buy one myself.

X10 will be an amazing phone, no worries. Sony Ericsson's devices are always somewhat slow pre-release, but when they retail or after a few updates the performance is usually really top. And you don't have to use SE's own UI either, default Android is present aswell.

And I've heard X10 will be released with Android 2.

ok, somebody asked opinions. So far, I'm a pretty darn happy camper. My iPhone is a fridge compared to it ( UI or device ) It's fast, smooth, crisp and a joy to use. IMO the touch is certainly as good as the iPhone, in some apps even better.

I only have one problem. I have windows 7 and Outlook 2010 b?ta and the syncing is going wrong, calendar hardly syncs, like only 2 appointments. It might be the beta that's killing it. I'll let you know I I find a solution.

I believe you can download office 2010 beta for windows mobile now.

Nokia PC suite doesn't work with outlook 2010 either (yet)

you know, the apps are good. And having a large collection is always good ( and god knows marketplace is as barren as can be)

But, like I said, My iPhone ( which I'm still keeping btw ) has 4 pages of apps, and it's all fun in the beginning but eventually you only use facebook, twitter, mail, sms, google, google maps... and those are on my HTC. Seriously, I've thought this through very good, I wanted something open, with better connectivity, which just syncs well with windows 7 and all programs, fast, smooth, better camera, flash, ... and the HD2 just won, hands down. I don't like apple any more, their tactics, their marketing, their pattents which seem to work with mac devices alone or which enforce advertisments on subsidized iPhone-users ...

ow and btw, it's official, HD2 will get WM7 so my Zune Phone will happen. Hurraaaaa

Yeah for all the 'apps' the iPhone has, what really does it have that other phones can't do. All a marketing gimmick really.

I currently have the Touch HD and looking at the HD2 myself. Just wondering how much I would get for it though, recycling sites offer ?130ish so guessing maybe about ?170-180 on ebay? Leaves me looking for another ?300 for the HD2.

a friend of mine bought the SE P990 when it came out, with a huge update coming according to SE to make it even better. It never came. One of the main reasons I bought the HD2, SE isn't reliable.

btw, HD2 officially going to be upgraded to WM7 when ik comes out. Zune Phone FTW

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
