What a cheap excuse.. The ps3 browsers sucks ass and they backup their half-ass release of fb implementation by saying the functionality exists.. I would love to see a native app that lets you browse profiles/pictures etc. along with the current features rather than using the browser... Time to step up your **** or leave the game Sony!

noting that Sony's made improvements to the browser in the 3.10 firmware update he says enhance Facebook functionality.

It's always existed yeah, but it's been pretty broke until now.

If you have a web browser what's the point on spending money creating a dedicated app for something like Facebook? MS have to do that as they don't have a web browser in the first place. The only useful PS3 exclusive features are automatic posting of trophies/purchases to your feed, you can check pictures/browse profiles on nearly anything in your house/pocket nowadays as long as it has internet. Quite frankly the only thing I'll turn on is purchase updates so my friends know what I'm buying off the store. With an iPhone/PC/Laptop I really don't give a **** about checking peoples profiles on my PS3.

I think you'll find a web browser let's you do everything on Facebook, eg, all the Facebook features and visit links posted by your friends. Probably play Mafia wars and all that crap people do on Facebook as well. The 360 app can't visit links as it isn't a browser and I don't know about Applications/Games on Facebook.

From people saying Facebook is a waste of time on a console, to others saying Sony need to leave the generation due to Facebook

Trust me.. I would probably spend very less time (if any) looking at profiles on the PS3 but if I wanted to browse it when friends are over or whatever (to fbstalk :p).. its a real convenient feature rather than opening up the awkward browser and trying to type using the dualshock.. I like the ps3.. they just need to get on par w/ the 360 functionality wise because it is more than a gaming console honestly.

I'm also in agreement that these features are completely useless. The Photo thing is nice, but nobody actually uses the PS3 for Photo Storage. I just use Media Link on my MacBook to send my iPhoto Library to my PS3 if I want to do something like that.

Facebook is USELESS, I mean, I'll use it but it's terrible.

As for the browser, DUDE, it can't even display the easiest of pages.

http://www.geeksandproud.com/ look at the HTML on that, any browser could handle that. But can the PS3? No! It renders it differently every damned time I use it! Sometimes the image isn't centred other times it is. Madness, the PS3 Browser is a selling point for the console, so they REALLY need to fix it.

Advertising your own website there?

I think anyone trying to say they're going to seriously use Facebook on their PS3/360 is talking a load of gonads. Most of us have phones with Facebook apps or use our PCs. You might browse some photos now and then, but I bet hardly anyone unless bored ****less touches these additions a couple of weeks after the "hey OMG Facebook on my console!" wears off. Best usage you'll see out of Facebook on the PS3, and on the 360 when it supports it is automatic updates to your Feed with trophies/achievements, or store purchases or gaming related updates. Gaming related exclusive features you would obviously only see/get through the consoles Facebook support.

A console sits under your TV, it's not portable, therefore 9 times out of 10 it's in your house, or in a location with a PC. Out and about you're going to use your phone or laptop to visit social websites. Seeing as you can't multitask on either console, in other words be on Facebook whilst playing a game, you have to be sitting just using it on the console. I spend enough time just using it when I'm on the PC/Neowin, when I sit down at my consoles I tend to play games :p

If Sony would just spend some time really fleshing out their browser you wouldn't need applications for anything, all websites would work through it. One issue is Adobe won't ever allow any platform other than a PC (and I'm certain MAC/Linux aswell) to have the current Flash Player. For example the PS3 will be stuck with Flash 9 when Flash 10 is on the PC, only getting Flash 10 when Flash 11 hits the PC. That's not made up, if anyone is going to challenge me on that I'll find you the source...

Then all they need to do is get the browser working in-game and it would be much more useful, probably still more useful for having gamefaqs a button push away whilst playing a game as opposed to Facebook.

LastFM was the only thing I thought was worthwhile getting on the consoles.

Well, they'd have said it then if it was coming so I'm pretty certain that it isn't coming this year. Unless there's another update coming in December, then it's all over for this year.

They rarely announce features of firmware updates until a few days before because if they get delayed then everyone has a hissy fit.

And if people watch the video, you'll hear he says this is the beginning of Facebook integration. More/better integration to come!

Is this out yet, or...

I believe it is.. I'm at work and will have to wait until I get home to confirm but the PCWorld title says, "PS3 Firmware 3.10 Released, Adds Facebook Support"

Source - http://www.pcworld.com/article/182467-2/ps...ok_support.html

I don't want to start playing COD:MW2 until this firmware is done. Stupid Sony for saying it's live when it isn't :/

Good point I heard it unlocks the 8th SPU in the CELL and gives you 120FPS MW2.

I heard you like mudkipz.

Norly, usually if you're online, PSN kicks you out when a new firmware comes online, which could suck if you're playing MW2 or something similar.

Would Firefox help?

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) using their respective DNS servers and both trigger the dialog above.
