Frogboy Administrators Posted November 17, 2009 Administrators Share Posted November 17, 2009 For users who are more technical, Rafael has posted his UxStyle program that will patch out the digital signature check on any version of Windows (including Windows 7) to allow for the application of .msstyles files. You can find his program here: http://uxstyle.com/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/846554-uxstyle-usage/ Share on other sites

Darksoft
Do I need to run this as an administrator? If so, how do I do that? Because I don't see the option when I right-click the file, and I also don't have the option when I go to the file's properties. Panda X
I thought UxStyle ran something in the background that let you use custom msstyles rather then patching? That's exactly what it does. It does it by editing the memory stream with a background services. Also you need Visual C++ Redistribution 2008 in order to install it. XmoshiX
You're better off by patching, this mess is unreliable, broken, and prone to breaking sooner or later. Get yourself a uxtheme patch, and be done with it. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/846554-uxstyle-usage/#findComment-591866144 Share on other sites
phot0nic
I've tried this on both my desktop and laptop (both Windows 7 x64), and it didn't work on either. I'd also recommend patching. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted November 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 20, 2009 For those who couldn't get it working: It's possible that you don't have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 installed. It's a requirement for the program to work properly. Click here for links to the x86/x64 versions. ViperAFK
Works fine for me.... You people obviously just don't have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 installed. Don't blame the program for your own fail :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/846554-uxstyle-usage/#findComment-591883392 Share on other sites

Darrian
Works fine for me, too. It's a lot less hassle than patching your system files. It's been out for quite a while now, so it's old news. I'm not sure why we needed a new topic about it. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/846554-uxstyle-usage/#findComment-591883922 Share on other sites

techbeck
I have tried everything in this tread and its not working for me at all. Not sure whats going on but the theme just shows up blank in the list. The service is loaded and I have rebooted a few times. I even tried the file patch method and that doesnt work either. And yes, c++ 2008 is installed as well. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/846554-uxstyle-usage/#findComment-591892060 Share on other sites
