Office 2007 'lingo'

Question

I recently reinstalled Microsoft? Office? 2007 on my clean Win7 system. On the first-use dialogs, here's something I find rather amusing:

Thanks for the ambiguity, but does anyone knotechnicallyi> what this 'file' is? Apparently, as per the description, the file does nothing by itself and only 'helps other tools' do thier job with Office?.

A heads-up will be appreciated.

I always maintained that crash reporting mechanisms were a client-side service & have unidirectional communication with the host server. In plain english, the client tells the server what crashed & how, not the other way round. So why would the client consistently need an update? And what would that update contain?

Either that, or I'm totally losing it on the design by organization warfront. :|
