Xbox Headphones

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, I am looking for a good headset for the xbox, now I am not looking at spending more than $100 bucks on it if possible. I am not looking for the best of the best, I am just looking for something in the sub $100 category that sound good, and have the mic, that would be great for night time gaming.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and they had quite a few. They had models by Turtle Beach and Tritton. I figure I will just get one of these 2 brands, but which is best for the money and which do you guys suggest?

Here are the 4 Best Buy has that I liked. Which do you guys prefer?

Go for X3, even though the X1's are brilliant as they are, there's a lot of wires :p Wireless turtle beach > Wired turtle beach. From what I've seen (I looked around for X3's here in the UK but they weren't on sale at the time) the wireless headphones dont lose any quality in the sound at all.

awesome. So I guess my question is, with the x1's being so good, should I go for the X3's since they are wireless? Or will I loose some sound quality with going wireless so should I stick with the x1's?

Sound is neither loose nor tight.

Personally I'd want to lose the wires.

Well after reading on the Turtle Beaches, I DEFINITELY will not be getting the X1's because you can not use HDMI with them, or at least you can't out of the box, you have to purchase something else for it to work.

The X3's work fine with HDMI though, because they actually plug into your Optical Out port on the 360, so probably going to give them a try.

I am pretty close to getting the turtlebeach x3's. To get the 5.1tritton's I would have to spend $150 or more and they aren't wireless.

I have the X3's and they are definitely really good.

I will say this though. There is a constant buzz in mine, but it is only noticeable when there is no sound. As soon as there is sound it goes away (gets drown out to be technical). I just think I have way to much going on in my house to not get the buzz, and especially the room I have them in. My wireless router, my cell phone, all my wireless controllers, our cell phones are always in the room, so no matter what I did I could not get the buzz to go away.

But especially if you hook them up through the optical, they sound great, and are definitely surround.

X3's have low interference, i suffered the same thats why I kept my X1's. The best wireless headset is the X4. They have absolutely NO interference. I Got a friend to buy them we stuck all the cellphones but one, wireless controllers, ps3 controllers(bluetooth), everything possible, and no interference. We even took the one cellphone we left out and mass texted everyone, no anything.

With the x3's there was the static. We had to get away from everything completely and no static but as soon as we would turn on more controllers or start texting the headset started buzzing.

Get that, or the trittons. Didnt know trittons finally made headsets for about 6-8 months ago I would of brought my turtle beach back for that, ONLY because I can use them on PC. Instead im getting G35's for computer.

personally... i'd either go for cheap wired (these simply plug into your controller, plus i think they work as well as the x1's... do some research 1st tho)

http://turtlebeach.com/products/efxlc/home.aspx

or expensive wireless (im looking at these personally, a little too expensive tho)

http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx4/home.aspx

mid range wireless aint very good value for money imo... may be wrong tho

You know I don't mind getting the wired versions of the Turtle Beaches (x1's) but my problem is, I have read they do not work with HDMI, since that's how my xbox hooks to my TV I am worried. I know the X3's plug in through the optical plug so I know they will work fine.

Can anyone confirm that I can use the X1's with HDMI? How do they plug up?

I've been actually looking to get some headphones for my Xbox 360, and was also concerned about HDMI and such. Right now I just have my HDMI cable going to the receiver. Will the cables that come with the headphones block my HDMI port due to the proximity of the 2 ports?

Ok so looking at this picture

wamt09.jpg

I ONLY have an HDMI cable. I do not have the RCA jacks with me.. So how can I get it to work with JUST the HDMI cables?

The X31's plug into the Optical plug on the back of the xbox don't they?

EDIT:

AHH so come to find out the X31 and the X1 are identical. The X31's say they work with HDMI out of the box but really they only do with the older Elite models.

Here is the response from Turtlebeach

Well as we know, Microsoft designed the XBOX 360 Pro and Arcade so that the AV cable blocks the HDMI port--which basically forces people to spend $50 on the Elite cable that has the thinner plastic cover.

Officially, we can not provide any further assistance other than to tell you that you must purchase the Elite AV cable if you want to use HDMI with your non-Elite XBOX 360.

UN-officially speaking though, you might want to take a looksie through YouTube. Search for "XBOX HDMI HACK" and check out the first vid that comes out.

SO I guess I am going to just save the money and get the X1's. I don't care about wireless that much. As long as the sound quality is the same

I'd be wary of the Turtle Beach X1s. I've got one; my brother bought it nearly a year ago. The sound is pretty good (although not as good as my actual headphones, and a ton more bass), but the durability is a bit crap. We had to get a replacement headset connector, as the tip of the jack which goes in the controller broke off, and there's a crack in the left side of headband, which we've taped up.

I'm going to put the x41's on my holiday wishlist. Hope I get it!!!

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) using their respective DNS servers and both trigger the dialog above.
