Sprint HTC Hero Maintenance Release

Released today (11.18) for anyone who didn't know :)

Now I do have a question.

I downloaded mine and it asked me to hit install (so I did, obviously).

The phone rebooted (like it was supposed to do) and has been stuck at the boot screen for approximately an hour.

I'm afraid to take out the battery/soft reset it for fear that it's still installing and I'll brick it. I don't want to just spend time doing nothing though, because if it froze at some point, I think it might be more productive to reset it and see if it still boots up, etc.

What do I do?

You should be good to remove the battery as long as it doesn't still show the open package and Hero image. If it is just the HTC logo it should just be booting back up, after installing everything.

You think so? yeah, it says the 'htc' logo, but it's not animated or anything.

I'm gonna remove it, I'll get back to you on whether it works.

No problem. There have been a few people who's Hero's froze after the update today. Most don't, and those that have frozen are usually ok.

Happened to me with my Hero. Of course, it doesn't happen to the free ones, only the ones you've paid for. :crazy:

The problem is with the copy protected apps, they don't show up in the market after the update.

HTC, Google and Sprint all blame each other, or pretend like they haven't heard of the problem, even though many people have called them.

Android Market is going to self destruct if Google doesn't put more effort into these kind of problems and fix them.
