I?m glad this thread has been re opened, I downloaded this from the original links posted last night and can?t seem to get the virtual machine to connect to the internet. Any tips? Using VMware player I have tried both bridged and nat with no luck, as you can?t even log on without a working network connection it?s hard to find out what the problem actually is.

Also am I allowed to link to a mirror of this I created last night? it requires no registration unlike the links posted above.

been messing with this since they released it and i still cannot get Virtual box ocnfigured correctly to allow for a network connection to the Chromium OS so i cannot sign in :(

At Neowin, we prefer "official" links. Let me know when you have them and I'll re-open this thread.

Thread Closed

Just curious, but if (for example) Fedora was available on torrent, but not on a RedHat hosted site, would that thread be closed and links removed?

Question I have is that these are open source projects, so there isn't a copyright issue or any other need for a specific host, so will all third-party hosts of files be closed and links removed?

I had the same thought. Thing is, the guy that compiled this build isn't even the official distributor of the project, Google is so even his link is technically unofficial.

CentOS isn't the official distributer of RedHat Enterprise Linux. They take RedHat source code and compile it and re-distribute it (after removing trademarks like logos and such). The only difference between the two is the popularity between them.

The VMDK file has to be converted for the current version of Player or WS to read it (WS 7 can do so in the same process used to create a custom VM, which is how I did it).

Because of the conversion needed (which Player can't do; however, WS 7 can), I suggest WS 7 or Fusion as opposed to Player.

Settings otherwise: guest is Linux-Ubuntu, RAM is 512 MB, graphical acceleration is on, networking is NAT (not bridged) with Windows hosts.

It's not Android - it's aimed at larger screens than Android.

However, it is aimed at *smaller* displays than even Kubuntu Netbook Remix (from the font scaling, I'd say no larger than 1024x768, if not 800x600).

Optional usages - an always-on Kindle-type or other eBook device based on a netbook (or even a small netbook with built-in wireless for hotel guests; basically a wireless version of the subsidized MiFi netbook that VZW, AT&T Mobility, and Sprint are offering).

Go to the VM options and change the network adapter type to "Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop".

Make sure you right click Virtual Box and choose to run as administrator (given you are running Windows Vista or 7)

I had the same issue even though I have full admin rights and UAC disabled :/

    • This 4K webcam from Acer is now only $59.99 by Taras Buria Those looking for an affordable, high-resolution webcam from a reputable manufacturer can check out the latest deal from Acer, which puts its 4K webcam at a solid price. Thanks to a 14% discount, you can buy this all-metal 4K webcam from Acer for just $59.99. Despite the affordable price tag, the webcam has a pretty large 1/2" CMOS sensor manufactured by Sony. Apart from its size, it supports additional conveniences, such as high dynamic range and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). Plus, the camera ensures you do not have to buy additional audio equipment, as it comes with two built-in high-sensitivity microphones, a built-in background noise filter, and the ability to pick up your voice from up to 2.5 meters away. Acer is not cheaping out on materials, and the webcam is enclosed in a more premium metal case, which is also good at heat dissipation (high-resolution cameras can get quite hot). And to make sure no one is peeping at you when the camera is in use, there is a magnetic cover also made of metal. Additional conveniences include an LED status indicator and a built-in mount that lets you place a camera on a tripod.
