Just got one...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just bought myself a PS3 finally... I have never owned a Playstation and need some recommendations on some games and such. I have a pretty decent Blu-Ray collection which is the main reason I bought the PS3. :D I tried the Killzone 2 demo and its pretty sweet. So far the only thing I dont like is that you have to install everything which is kinda dumb but I guess thats because of the bd drive being so slow on reading bd discs. Let me know guys! :)

Also what are some cool tricks and such if any? I have a directv hd dvr and the ps3 sees it but it wont stream anything from it will it?

You can't install any games on your Xbox HDD to make it load faster? I thought both consoles did this :p

Looking at your gamercard in your sig there's really not much I could recommend that you haven't played. A couple games for sure tho is Uncharted and Metal Gear... maybe Resistance too.

Congrats on the new purchase :)

As for games, I don't have very many myself, but I definitely recommend WipEout HD. It's a digital download only, but it's provided me with hours of entertainment, which is quite impressive considering its low cost. And I haven't even bought the expansion pack yet.

Yea it does on the 360 :p all my games that I play are installed. I played the uncharted 1 demo and did not care to much for it.... I will be renting a few game this weekend though. :)

lol I know what you mean, I don't care much for Uncharted either but apparently it's sooooo popular that I have to recommend it just for that. :p

Metal Gear is a must tho imo, damn that game is good. Plus it's super cheap on the net or Gamestop etc.

Wipeout HD is available to buy on disc now too, or certainly is in the UK

Certainly as others have mentioned, LBP, MGS, Uncharted (although sounds like you didn't like) InFamous, Killzone 2, Flower, Demon Souls.

Dude, I hated the look of uncharted 1 so went straight for Uncharted 2. Best game i've ever played. and I usually hate that genre of games.

@AB, where did you buy Assassins 2? Also the ''spine'' of the box is totally different to the usual PS3 case xD

Preorderd it @ The Hut months ago when they were doing it for ?28.

That's the new box branding to go along with the Slim (they wanted to remove Spiderman font), the front has changed as well

Was surprised MW2 didn't have the new style.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
