Dell Windows 7 Premium

Hey guys, i'm legitimately getting "Windows 7 Home Premium? 64bit" through Dell (I bought a laptop with Vista and they offered 7 for ?15)

Anyway, I absolutely HATE the OEM crap that comes with Dell computers/laptops. When I get Windows7 from Dell - will it be clean or will it be "Dells" version? If Dell, would I be able to obtain a retail version of "Windows 7 Home Premium? 64bit" and use the key provided by Dell?

I had an old copy of Windows XP Home and my Gran had a Dell with Windows XP Home ... thing is ... I lost the CD to my copy, so I tried using her Dell key so she could have a reinstall .... didn't work. I suspect the same will be the case.

The Windows 7 Professional Disc that comes from Dell installs just the OS, no other software as far as i've seen. And Dave I think for the Dell key to work the XP Disc has to be an either an OEM or Retail, not sure which though.

It's just the OS, nothing else is on the disc.

Agreed, just the OS. Which means you may be missing some Dell drivers.

Yes your key will work with any Windows 7 disk

It will be a plain OS install disc, with the addition of the Dell OEM key and certificate. These will tie-up with another key in your Dell's BIOS to activate Windows for you. You will not need to type in a key at all. Nice and simple, and no bloat! (Y)
