fillup
I dual boot Vista & Windows 7. Today I booted into Vista and opened Firefox. Google looks different. The search results page has some new options on the left side that wasn't there before. This only happens in Firefox and only in Vista not Windows 7. Anyone know what's going on? lnmnky
It seems to have a fade in also. If you put your mouse outside of the window, and then move in.... fillup
Woah, that's sweet!Have you clicked the "what's this?" buttons? The "What's This" button is from the Xmarks add-on. The Google options to the left side is what is new. Snowl
Cookies. There is a certain string in your cookies that enables the new interface. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/847738-google-looks-different/#findComment-591875284 Share on other sites
andrew_f
In the past this has been enabled by setting a cookie, like java script:alert(document.cookie="PREF=ID=fb7740f107311e46:TM=1142683332:LM=1142683332:S=fNSw6ljXTzvL3dWu;path=/;domain=.google.com") I wonder if we can do the same with this? Edit: just noticed Kirbeh said the same ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/847738-google-looks-different/#findComment-591875286 Share on other sites

fillup
Cookies. There is a certain string in your cookies that enables the new interface. Ok. So where does Firefox keep the cookies? If I copied the cookies from Firefox/Vista to Firefox/Windows 7 would that enable the new interface? Lee G. Veteran Posted November 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2009 Looks good :D Quite a change considering Google has only changed its interface in small increments over the last 9 years or so. Calum Veteran Posted November 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2009 Nice  I really do love how Google are improving the interface constantly lately, from the fade-in to these excellent changes. The only thing I think they need to change on this is to make the blue links in search results a nicer light blue, like the blue in the buttons, other than that, I really hope they release this soon because I have always thought of Google as ugly - this is not ugly ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/847738-google-looks-different/#findComment-591875422 Share on other sites
andrew_f
Ok. So where does Firefox keep the cookies? If I copied the cookies from Firefox/Vista to Firefox/Windows 7 would that enable the new interface? Right click > View Page Info > Security > View Cookies If it works, would you be able to post them in here for others to try? I did that and shows 28 google.com cookies. But I can't copy them, only delete them from there. Where on my hard drive are they stored? The_Decryptor Veteran Posted November 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2009 They're stored in a database inside your user profile, copying that file to the other system would replace all of it's cookies with the other system's. I installed that add-on and was able to copy the NID and PREF entries from the google.com cookie in Firefox/Vista. I then changed the NID and PREF entries in Firefox/Windows 7 to match, and now I have the new interface in Windows 7 also.
