sibot
Ah! its been so long since I saw a floppy disk! Before whenever I assembled computers, there'd be a tick next to the FDD section, now, there's no FDD section. +Frank B. Subscriber² Posted November 21, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 21, 2009 LOL! I don't miss floppy disks, but do you remember the LS120? On another note: I would like to have the battery life on my laptop thats in your sig. ;) I remember the LS120 drive. The university admins were so proud of the new machines with built-in LS120 drives when they equipped the PC labs with them... ... yet everybody only used them as floppy drive. I don't know of a single person who's ever owned a LS120 disk. Instead people would queue up in front of the Windows 98 machine with Zip drive and external SCSI CD burner (2x speed!) to backup larger amounts of data. Fun times. We had an LS120 drive at home, and on several occasions used the LS120 disks. We may still have them. what
I'm amazed there are still places around that sell floppies (or that you could still buy a floppy drive for a new computer a year ago). 1.44MB used to be plenty for just about anything. ViZioN
My dad uses floppies at work to back up all his client's accounts. :| , what's wrong with a USB stick? Although they're both weak from a security point of view unless you encrypt the contents.
