What HDD to buy?

Hello guys :)

finally.. im buying another HDD to setup with my OLDISH 80gb drive :p

My main concern is that i dun want them to turn out bad like for many years to come..

my drive im using right now is a seagate one.. 80gb and its been years i have this..

i want the longest life and reliability..

performance dun matter here

so i wanted to ask from these 2 options.. which one should i buy.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 320gb 16mb cache

Seagate Baracuda 7200. 320gb 16mb cache

oh.. one more thing.

whats the main difference in these and the ones with 8mb cache?? i mean what does cache do?

no, both good. You'll find good stories and horror stories for both. The truth is they're both going to be just as reliable as the other

so im going with a WD..coz its like 1 dollar cheaper here.. and ive always used seagate.. so i wana try WD now :)

my first seagate died after 4 years or so..

anyhow one little question..

should i reinstall my OS on that or will installing games on it give me better loading performance even when my OS is on my old slow HDD??

Go for WD for sure. Caviar blue is way better, see if you can fit Caviar Black in your budget, if so, go for it with your eyes closed.

^ If you want speed, go for WD's Scorpio Black. Otherwise their Scorpio Blue is still good.

If I were you, I'd go with Western Digital. I had some bad experience with Seagate. Western Digital hdd has been the best so far. And the one you picked has better review than Seagate also. So, I suggest you go with Western Digital.

btw i cant go with a black one.. they arent available here in Pakistan..

these 2 are available at the $50 price mark.. so i was stuck between them :)
