[BIOS]AWDFLASH backup and flashing

Recommended Posts

Hello People!!!

Background Info

I've got a foxconn 945P7AA-8EKRS2H. ?In the likes of CPUZ this shows up as a HIGRADED P9457AA but the motherboard itself (via sticker on board) that it is infact a 945P7AA-8EKRS2H. ON boot up it is indicating that the current bios version is 515F1P43.

I need to upgrade as I believe the BIOS ACPI is causing the problem for freezing in debian based distros as someone with the same 945P7AA product line upgrade to the latest bios and all problems were gone. ? Sadly there is no tool from foxconn to download to do this in windows. ?This is just a play machine but it would be nice if it worked properlyWhat I've done so far/b>

I've downloaded the latest bios from the website 515F1P55 placed the bin file and its EXE on a win98se boot disk(usb bootable) ?

I've got a backup of my current bios current called A01BACKU.BIN? I used the command AFU865 backup.bin /pn/sy ?

This loaded up a program (where I then called the file A01...) ?It then saved the bios (it showed a message of source file not found, I assume this was because I gave it backup.bin as an arguement) ?I can clearly see that A01BACKU.BIN exists on the drive by doinWhere I need helphelp

First off was my backup good enough? next...

Following on the instructions of http://www.foxconnchannel.com/support/faq_...ID=en-us0000066

I'd need to do a command similar to AFUXXX BIOS file /py/sn/cc/cd/cp/wb?

Now will this load a program up and require me to do anything like last time?????(I Hope not)

and secondly do I need the wb command? Going on the first post here http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?p=2475308#post2475308

Updates the BIOS Boot Block. This switch does not have to be used. The BIOS Boot Block will get updated with the flashing of the BIOS.BIOS.

The manual says this about the bios jumper http://localhostr.com/files/137b48/bios.jpg

Currently the jumper is on pins 1 and 2(I checked but could see no indication of which is pin 1 so I'm guessing).

Will the WB command interfere wBIOS "Top Boot Block" uot; ??????
