AndyD
I can't figure out why my TV is "1" in properties. I can make my LCD the default but whenever I set the option to "duplicate" the resolution on my pc matches my tv - meaning it's the wrong resolution. I know it should be possible to have two different resolutions when duplicating screens - I've done it before in Vista. Also, if I use win-P to switch back to one display Windows will shut off my LCD and show the desktop only on my TV Is there any way for me to force Windows to use my LCD as default? As you can tell in the window, it's already set to main display. It just doesn't do anything. #2 is my LCD. #1 is my Sony HDTV Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848072-why-is-windows-7-treating-my-tv-as-the-primary-display/ Share on other sites
Berserk87
repeatedly pressing win+p should change through a couple display settings, but since its saying your tv is monitor #1 its going to change between, expanded desktop, 2nd screen only, and clone screen. you should be able to click on #2 and check off "this is my primary monitor" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848072-why-is-windows-7-treating-my-tv-as-the-primary-display/#findComment-591879798 Share on other sites
redvamp128
I know at one time you could drag the one where the two was and it would swap the primary. Or check that advanced settings sometimes there is a swap monitors. Rudie32
My nvidia geforce 8300 integrated graphics does the same thing in windows 7. Thought that was odd. It still treats my hdmi output as secondary even though it shows it as 1. d4diesel
i had a similar problem as well. i think its to do with the type of connection. my graphic card has a vga (which connects to the lcd tv) and a dvi which connects to the monitor. the computer by default tries to look for a screen on the vga port first and then the dvi and sets it as such. my other card which has two dvi output and i use dvi to vga adapter to connect to the tv, doesnt have that problem since to the computer, its both dvi connectors on the graphic card. Salty Wagyu
My DVI-out to the TV also gets assigned to #1 as well. Knowing this problem from RC I installed Windows 7 final with the DVI cable unplugged from the PC. But that didn't fix it, Monitor became #1 but as soon as the cable was back in it would make the TV #1 :/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848072-why-is-windows-7-treating-my-tv-as-the-primary-display/#findComment-591884364 Share on other sites
