Alladaskill17
What kind of performance can I expect on a all stock MacBook Pro with 2GB memory etc. Same with Dreamweaver CS4 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848224-vmware-fusion3-adobe-ps-cs4/ Share on other sites
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted November 22, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted November 22, 2009 In a VM Photoshop CS4 won't perform very well. Especially considering that you only have 2 GB of RAM, thus won't be able to give the VM more than 1 GB of RAM. Why don't you use the native OS X version of the CS4 suite? gnuman
You would best be off if you could get the Mac versions of the software. If you do not want to buy the Mac versions, then you'd be better off running bootcamp and dual booting Windows and Mac OS as 2GB is not enough. Don't forget you'll be using memory from MAc OS, Fusion itself, Windows within fusion and the software. Definitely not a lot of memory to do what you want. Might as well expand to 4GBs. Alladaskill17
Just thought about this, looking over my old(er) topics with posts I hadn't seen. I have since upgraded to 4GB. VMWare + CS4 now? Not as essential now, still curious. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848224-vmware-fusion3-adobe-ps-cs4/#findComment-592570030 Share on other sites
XionUK
I'd still say run native, either in Bootcamp or get the OS X version. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848224-vmware-fusion3-adobe-ps-cs4/#findComment-592570056 Share on other sites
Alladaskill17
Only reason I hesitate to do Boot Camp is because last time I tried it, it was in Beta and did not run smoothly - at all. amon91
The problem with getting the OSX version is that'll set you back quite a bit of money. I'd say use Boot Camp or get a nice OSX PS alternative like Acorn. Or just try running it in a VM, can't hurt, just don't expect great results. Hot
Photoshop should run better with more RAM but still not anywhere near as well as it would in Boot Camp. Dreamweaver should run fine. amon91
Why would the Mac version set you back any more than the Windows version? Because last time I looked the keys aren't cross-platform, meaning you have to get another license. I think Adobe offers a discount on those licenses but I'm not sure how much it is. You might not be allowed no more since CS5 is out and you'd have to upgrade. Best thing to do is call customer services for your country and check. http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848224-vmware-fusion3-adobe-ps-cs4/#findComment-592571870 Share on other sites
