presence06
I am really wanting to upgrade to the latest firmware for my iphone. I'm still running OS3, everything works and i haven't had any major issues. I'm just scared to update because i've been hearing about people having issues with Push and other things not working. Is it still an issue with the new baseband not allowing to unlock? Do I need a custom IPSW? or can I just restore/install latest via iTunes and run blackra1n to jB/Unlock? I'm sorry ( I know theres probably other posts about this) i'm just nervous about upgrading because i need my phone daily and i don't need a brick lol. I've been reading guides to unlock/jb on iClarafied and it seems pretty straight forward. so if its just that easy i will do it, but i don't want to brick my phone or be without push.. I have an old ATT sim card will this work while "activating" my phone? Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted November 22, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 22, 2009 Update to the latest 3.1.2 using iTunes. It will probably lock you out of using your phone, which is normal. Download blackra1n and open it up and click "Make it ra1n". This will put your phone into a recovery mode and jailbreak it for you. If it doesn't work the first time, keep unplugging and trying again. Now install Cydia through Blackra1n application. Open Cydia and search for "UltraSn0w", install that, and your phone will be unlocked. sachleen
Not sure of the rules on this topic here (should be OK though, right?) but just google ultrasn0w and hit the first link. Then click Official Info Here. and follow the instructions. presence06
This is what i did.. (probably wrong but it worked) Plugged phone into macbook, downloaded/backedup/installed new firmware via itunes. Rebooted, used Blackra1n, loaded app and installed Cydia, installed "Rain" app. afterwards showed "T-mobile" and full signal. Wifi works, push works, mms, messaging, phone. I DID not restore the phone ( pretty sure you are supposed to) but it seems to work just fine this way. Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted November 22, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted November 22, 2009 Ya I thought I noticed something like that last night. I am a bit behind on the blackra1n development, i'm not sure if it is unlocking phones too, because I ran blackra1n last night on a 2G iPhone and the carrier worked instantly. UltraSn0w can be found inside of Cydia. You need to search for it and install it from there. Yup, BlackSn0w is a new unlock method for the iPhone, found in Cydia :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/848230-iphone-3g-on-t-mobile-jbunlock-312/#findComment-591882432 Share on other sites

Does everything in one click :) i tried searching for Ultrasn0w within Cydia but couldn't find it. but I followed the iClarified guide which showed you install "Snow" within blackra1n, reboot and boom, you're unlocked. that's awesome. My phone seems faster now too. :) Thank you!
